: Winch Hill Clarification

My son and I ran from Eagle to Committee yesterday. I am trying to figure out which location was winch hill 2 on the map. We bypassed winch hill 1 at the advice of two broken buggys. Also, where does the bypass reconnect with the trail after winch hill 1? They all seemed like winch hills to us, as we were in a Land Rover! As a point of reference, we winched to a large fir tree (with tree saver) shortly after the bypass to 1 (after broken yellow toy-before broken white xj), made it up the next ledge to the left, then had to winch to the rock with the big steel rod drilled into it. I don't recall winching again until the "easy way out" after committee (in the dark). Made it through with no body damage. Everyone was very cool, and patient. We knew that traffic would be light with the Trek up on the Meadow lake end, and loved crossing with such low flows.
Thanks.

Winch hill 2 is a bunch of loose rocks on a kinda steep uphill

That must be the spot with the pin in the rock then. Still unsure where the route from winch hill 1 intersects.

I've just read several old threads about the route around winch hill 1. Sounds like it's frowned upon. Looked like a pretty clean, vegetation free route. Any clarification is appreciated.

there used to be more than 1 bypass around WH #1, i think that maybe those old discussions.

the pin in the rock is WH2

The WH1 bypass is only a couple hundred yards long and then you are back on the main trail. Most of that distance is just flat ground getting to a couple of climbs. Very shortly after the climbs you are back on the trail.

also, at the top of WH#2 most go to the right side and squeze next to a tree on the right side and the hole on the left side. Look at You tube: http://youtu.be/nnZVWVioEVw

oh and the bypass at Commitee??? I thought it was tougher than some of the main trail.
