I was wondering what size nut this might be. I don't want to buy one and it not be the right size. I believe its a Chevy van axle, its got a 6" offset diff. it also has studs coming from the hub instead of bolts going in (to retain the shaft).

It also has a 60HD cast into the webing, but is only 30spline.

Hammer and chisel work good.

I forget the size right off hand, maybe because I just grab the socket out of the 3/4" drive set that is all greased up. I think it's the only one of that set that gets used more then once a year.

2 9/16 or 2 7/16th rings a bell.

Spindle nut?
Mine was 2 1/4" if memory serves. 79 Ford D60 and a D70 was same size.
Hell, just measure it. :D

My Dodge 60HD uses a 2-9/16" or a 2-1/2" socket. I forget which size the nut is, but I only have the 2-9/16" socket so that is what I use.

I would meausre but its 2hrs away, sucks. I think 2 9/16". I dunno, I got a screwed up 60 anyways, one side is 6" longer than the other, the hub has studs coming out of it and the drums are narrow.

Would it be easier to just bore out the spindles to 1.51" or find spindles that are that size and use them?

Are most 60FF parts interchangable. cuz i'm thinking of finding new hubs that have the bolts to retain the shafts.

I really want to use the axle since i have it, it has 4.10s which is a plus, and i only have to shorten one side of the axle. Disk brakes won't be a problem, but the TJ brackets will be a bitch. What do yall think.

Ummm, use new ones and let us know which wrench you got the spindles off with....;)

Hell I reckon I can figure it out. Worst comes to worse i'm only out 50 bucks, could probably keep the gears.
When i did a search i found a guy wanting to use diff. spindles, talkin about cutting them out behind the square plate i believe, wouldn't you need a jig to line new ones up with though???

Why do you think I said let me know which wrench takes them off? They don't unbolt! You have to cut them off or find a HUGE ass lathe.
