Here is a nice and easy question for the masses. I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for:(

Are there different widths of full floating Dana 60 rear axles? What about shafts?

If you could provide a year/model with the info, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
John

of course there are different widths. but the applications vary so widely that you can't really seem to pin down what width an axle will be on alot of them. so, to me at least, it becomes go look and see what you can find under what and measure it. that's probably why you didn't find many specifics. that said there are alot of 65" FF D60's out there it seems. older van's had some that were narrower but sometimes were offset a bit. newer van's are really wide, say 69" or so.

I'm sure others who've looked more than I have can offer more specifics. good luck.

Well I know on the 14 bolt, there are different hubs for duallys but the shafts are the same length (not so for van axles), but in general, if it's a different width, the shafts are different lengths.

What exactly are you looking for? More info would help

Basically, I want to have a "narrow" full float rear Dana 60 without having a pair of custom axles. I'm looking around the neighborhood of about 60" WMS to WMS. I'm not worried about 35+ splined shafts or other "bling-bling" stuff.

I was giving serious thoughts to using a 14bolt full floater. But due to my desire for an ARB(or other manual locker), it is ruled out:(

But I think something mentioned above gives me a VERY good idea for looking around... the fact that some vans are offset may be of some use.

Spicer puts out a butifull book called the XGI. It has all the axle dimentions, and interchanges. You can get the axle# from BOM # then call a shop with an XGI they can give you the specs. Or you can beg and plead with some one to give up their's.

http://www2.dana.com/expert/ This may helo too. Takes a bit of getting use to but it has some great info if you learn how to use the data base.:flipoff2:
