We will be offering sound testing at PC Dec 14,15. As of Jan 1, 2003 Ca. law says 96db max. Come out and see if your gonna be able to ride next year and what you might need to do to pass.

Just a stab in the dark, do you think a 250f with exhaust will pass. It is pretty loud, but im not sure how loud 96 db is.

You said "we", do you work out there? or are you a dirt digger?

I am a Dirt Digger and i dont think your 250 will pass with a stock muffler as several of our members have 250f's and they have a hard time passing with aftermarket spark arrestors. The good news is the manufacturers are starting to produce stuff that will pass. We will have some stuff to show you out there.

Just wondering is fmf doing the testing? also do you have the information regarding what races will require the lower db level next year. My 500 is at 106db and im not sure if the fmf q will quiet it enough yet but i hope

The State and the Dirt Diggers are doing the testing. As for an FMF Q on a 500 i cant answer that you will just have to test it. I believe but dont quote me that any state facility will make you test. They do it at all the Events in the National Forest and one of our guys didnt get to ride yesterday because he was to loud and you only have to be 101db right now. Just as a side note 2 strokes pass easier than the 4 Strokes. My KX 250 with an Acerbis O35 was 86db yesterday and 87db at the jackhammer.

Stock KTM spark arrestors are among the quietest

I cant make it to PC this weeekend(14-15) Is there going to be any testing elsewhere? Carnigie, Hollister Hills? I have a Suzuki LT500 quad with FMF exhaust. any chance I might be close to passing? It would suck to be told you cant ride after spending so much $ to rebuild/restore everything.
