I was just looking at some Iceland 4x4 pics, and i found this one of a D110 with 44" tires. It just makes me wonder sometimes how they do it, has anyone ever seen one up close?

snow is very forgiving on drive train. Untill you get stuck. So just dont get stuck, or keep the rpm's down;)

leaf springs sprung over usually with FJ80 axles with e-lockers that's how they do it pretty easy to fit big tires that way oh yeah and cut fenders and big fender flares.

I read somewhere that the only problem they had was wearing out the splines on the drive flanges. Once they replaced those with some upgraded ones(maxi I think), no problems with breakage in the front.

there was a write up in last months LRM about a company that does the conversions.
they tend to cut the spring mounts off and re-weld them 4 or 5 inches lower down. same with the trailling/radius arm mounts too.

they even do work on BRAND new rovers (they had a picture of a discovery td5 that hadn;t even had any license plates on it yet, it was that new, and it was sat on the rams with no axles or springs mounts on it!...awesome!)
this rover belonged to the local LR dealership manager, so he managed to swing some warranty on it too. don;t think it would work for 38" boggers and rockcrawling though! although you never know!!

think they were looking at the new rangie too, and thought it would be "fairly straightforward"....hmmmmm...
