As you know, some of the homeowners on Peavine are trying to block access to the mountain. They created a petition with 300 signatures, dominated the meeting on October 8 and forced closure of the temporarily reopened access point on Roxbury. They have written numerous letters and attended many meetings. The Forest Service has already destroyed some sections of road near the Kings Row access point and allowed the Nevada Land Conservancy to seed them. Their announced goal is to reduce the density of roads and two thousand acres of land in the vicinity of San Rafael park will be dedicated to exclusive use of hikers and bicyclists.
Meanwhile, we have not made any significant response. We must act or lose access to the mountain.
A petition to maintain access is attached. Our goal is to get 3000
signatures by January. This should not be difficult. There are 8 motorcycle clubs and 3 four wheel drive clubs. On a combined basis we have about 350 members.
If each member got 20 signatures we would have 7000.
I have the support of the other clubs and have also placed copies at Michael's, BVH, RMS, Reno Cycles and Gear and the KTM shop.
I distributed this at the Christmas party. You can download the
attachment if you did not get one. Please make copies if you need them and get as many signatures as you can. Bring them to the next meeting. Let's show that we are big, organized and strong.

Keep Peavine Roads Open
I support creation of a permanent Peavine Mountain Vehicular Recreation Area including:
- Access points which will not be closed by development
- Preservation of existing roads and trails for vehicular use
- A plan to promote vehicular recreation while protecting homeowners from excessive noise and disruption
