seeing fc187's post with the crossmember got me thinking. how far off your frame do you guys have you crossmembers. mine was even with the frame but now I'm gonna run a toy pickup t-case and as I have it hung the crossmember sticks down about 6-8 inches. just wondering If I'll be able to live with it or not

I dont know if I can go any higher and still have a rear shaft. I always had probs with the angle when I had the lc case above the frame. and the p/u output is already higher than it was
btw my axle is moved back about 8-inches

I have a 2" deep x 5" widt HSS tube cross member across the bottom of the frame to support the split case.

The problem with my design is it is not good for sliding over rocks or "ramping" rocks for lack of a better term.

The skid plate can hang low as long as there are smooth angled surfaces that slide over rocks instead of grabbing them.

I second that, also like how it includes the support on the adapter from trany to the t-case. I just built my skid last week, after seeing that I think I will redo it.

I believe the rig your refering to is Jeff Sennas rig? Idealy I would like to have budged it a little higher, but with an auto and a doubler, it put the case soooo far back that that we would have had to chop up the tub to get it any higher. I fliped the rear springs to help out with DL angle a bit. with the case as low as it was, I just made the skid plate as form fitting as possible. The actual x-member was the pre existing AA type. Just made the plate to protect the "bling bling" wardens case ;)

On my POS I cut the crap out of my floor board and ran every thing flat with the frame rails. with the v8 forward and dual cases, the DL's where about the same length (fj55) so the angle wasnt to bad at all.

I think my case is basically the same as stock height. I've just got a basic SM420 swap with a 3-speed case.

It would be cool to tuck it up out of the way a little better, but a good skidplate keeps things out of trouble until I can do it. The skidplate may not be the prettiest, but it works! Solid bar stock and a few peices of 1/4" plate for good measure.
