Yes, I did search and came up with nothing beneficial:

I have a friend that wants me to do a swap for him. We are going between a WC T5 and an AX15. Any opinions or facts related to either would be helpful.

And for those that would suggest, he does not want the loss of a 5 speed nor the expense of a NV4500 swap, so just keep it between the two mentioned.
Thanks.

Well, the AX15 can be found cheaply in loads of XJs in boneyards across the country. It requires almost no modification (get the stock crossmember and the hose from the clutch master cylinder) to just drop right in.

The first gear ratio is about the same. AX15 is what, 3.96:1? WC T5 is 4:1. Looks like the T5 is a lot more expensive for minimal benefit.

why not look into a NV 3500 or 3550 out of a newer TJ? seem to be alot cheaper than a 4500 and still farily strong (down side is not having the granny low).

I am sorry. I should have mentioned that I have a line on both setups complete and they are around the same price, so basically it comes down to which is better.

A little more info: The AX15 has 55K miles, has been treated nicely, and only requires a new input shaft with different splines be put into the transfer case.
The WC T5 comes complete and ready to bolt in, has 8K miles on it, but it is a little more.

AX-15. I am pretty sure that although it is stronger, the WC T-5 has a lame assed 3.50 or so first, not the 4:1 of the regular jeep T-5.

The WC T5 in question is one of the AA trannys that was built for a vendor and not used so AA bought about 5000 of them and sold them off about two years ago.

It has the 4:1 first in there, which leads me in that direction since it appears to be stronger.

Thanks, any other input??

hmmm i was always under the asumption that WC T-5's were only "car" trannys(ie:shitty 1st gear, and other diffrences) i have never heard of a WC jeep T-5 and trust me i was looking for one:flipoff2:
if you can guarentee that it is a WC or can get the actual specs on it go for it as that would be stronger than an AX-15 BUT only if it is WC !!
other wise take the AX as it is stronger than a jeep T-5 or look for a NV and save the cash for it
