Well guys I have been biting my time for when to start actually posting on Pirate after stalking each and every build thread for 3 years. SO here goes my introduction. My name is Andrew, i'm from a small town in southern VA, I have been into cars & trucks all my life. I have been on numerous forums with numerous different vehicles and hobbies. I was (Not so graciously) given my 1990 Isuzu trooper by my dad after he fell and broke his shoulder and could no longer drive a 5spd. Somehow I found a way to fall in love with this lil IFS rig and enjoy it for what it is. So began the story of the HOOPTY. I was excited that it was a 5spd 4by because I had never owned one (Driveable that is, I also have a 87 Mazda B2600). Since day one I have been finding simple cheap ways to upgrade the Trooper. But just recently it has started to pour more smoke out of the little 2.6 4cyl than all the stacks on the Titanic combined. Recently at a gas station someone called the fire dpt. thinking it had cought fire. So I have decided to make it a little bit more capable. Now im sorry guys i got layed off due to the saw mill i worked at closed down so for now its kind of slow but i am looking forward to talking all things 4by with everyone!!! I love feedback negative and positive (I wont wine if someone decides to tell me how they feel, iv seen that alot through out this forum) Anyways ill shut the hell up and get to some pictures asap.

I got a 90' Trooper 2.6 5spd 4x4 my self. I love that lil thing I bought it to just trail ride with my boy but it actually does pretty darn good on the rocks & mud. Mine is 4:56 gears with open diffs & a 3:1 gear drive case. So far all I have done is rebuilt the engine & put a new head assembly on it then added a winch. Saving for lockers next then I'll worry bout lift & bigger tires. I am the only income for my family so I'll probably be years getting just the lockers, lift & tires but my son & I do have a ball with it. I'll be following this one for ideas.

Thanks guys for the comments sorry its taken me so long to get back to Pirate. I just started a new job a month ago sooooo.... First up is head gasket and Timing belt kit. Im also going to throw on some 33's ( Ima trim if needed) and prob weld up the front and rear and then wheel the hell out of it... I'm gonna try and formulate some cheap lil projects to do hear and there.... O yea Merry Christmas!!!

why not keep the stock wheels and 31s? wheels sticking out past the fenders on a stock height truck is never a good look, plus the stock wheels look better

I had an 86 Trooper with a 1.8L(I think thats what it was?) 5speed. That was my 1st 4x and I LOVED that thing. I went anywhere I pointed it, and you could take 5 or 6 people along with ya. I think the reason it went so good was cause it didnt have enough power to spin...:) I always took the back seat out and used it as a campfire chair and then slept in the back of the Trooper. It was also the first engine I ever rebuilt :) It ended up blowing up again (hydrolocked) and I sold it for $600. Wish i would have kept it....

Cant wait to see what you do with it man
