just bought a 76 scout II and am pretty sure is has t19 wide ratio but is there any way to know for sure. also what transfer case does it have, looks like a dana 300 but the book says its a dana 20. thanks for any help you can offer

There is no way to tell external if you have a wide. Your best option is to remove the top cover, look at the front most gear. If it is smaller then the syncro ring behind it you have a wide box (6.32:1), same size you have close box (4:1). Unless the t-case has been swapped it'll be a D20. If it is the rare Scout 300 then the speedo cable will enter on the pass side. OK that's all the help you get without searching. Good Newbie Binder site is Binder (http://www.binderbulletin.org)

The "Texas" bolt pattern is the pattern on the input side which is the same pattern used on the Dana 20 and Dana 18. The only difference is on the Scout Dana 300, the bottom bolt is not used, only the four bolts on the side are used.The catsring codes for the t-case(scout) are 13146 or TC-146 and C300-15 for non scout. As for the tranny look for the casting code if'n it's wide the code will be 464-420-C91,13427 or T-427.
