: www.VintageOffroad.com = BIGGEST RIPOFF!!!
CruisD64 12-11-2002, 08:29 PM This guy pisses me off, I don't know who he is. I hope he reads this post and sees what I think.

This cruiser was for sale on the pirate page a couple months ago for $10,000. He's trying to sell it for $24,900. Who the hell does he think he is? I know cause I was considering buying this truck. Not for no 24,900! It doesn't have a vortec, or a 5 speed, or atlas... and he's asking 24,900........:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Go sell Jeeps! It's not part of the cruiser brotherhood to rip people off.
ROCK HUGGER 12-11-2002, 08:42 PM Amen brotha:eek:
BIGBLOCKFJ40 12-11-2002, 08:47 PM i know.. i feel even worse.. cause he lives in my state of michigan.. he is just trying to make profit off of fj-40's.. he dont like em.. just buys and sells em.
ranger 12-11-2002, 10:01 PM I put my 40 up for sale earlier this year in the truck trader, N. calif edition. Anyways I get a call from this dude in Michigan that wants to buy my cruiser. All I did was send him some pics, told him what was in it, and he sent a check for the price I wanted. He even set up pick up and paid for that. I hate to see how much he sold it for, because I got a sizable sum for it. Looking at this site, this is the same dude that bought my cruiser, I didn't know that he was in a business of doing this.I have no complaints as a seller, but looking at what he is selling and want it wants, he must be planing on retiring early! :skull:
KeithF 12-11-2002, 10:12 PM come awn, makes all our cruisers worth lots more if there are dummies out there willing to actually pay $24k for a cruiser. that was a nice cruiser though, for the $10k that is...

Yes, I see your point, but I think I speak for most everyone when I say that it doesn't really matter what our cruisers are worth as far as the green goes, but more of what they mean to us. I know that if I were selling my truck, I would want someone who is knowledgable to buy it who knows exactly what they're getting. Someone who understands the cruiser thing. The dummies that pay $24,000 are the people that buy BTB trucks(more like 240,000...hehe) and dumb kids who like racing gauges and big tires who call it a Heep.
He's on drugs! It's not even SO. He'd be lucky to get 10,000 Aus for it here.
Is it possible to invest $41000 in a cruiser without buying things like vortec engine, atlas and camo60 axels?

Yep, and add Jonathan Ward in there too ;)
Stupid frnch jackasS 12-12-2002, 08:04 AM Heck, I could build a nice HDJ45 and even ship it for that price
climbermike 12-12-2002, 08:32 AM Yup, pure scam.
Cruiser Nerd 12-12-2002, 08:37 AM He actually calls one "unmolested" and "original" when it is an obvious collection of parts from various different year Cruisers with a cheap paint job. :flipoff2:
Anybody stupid enough to give him cash should be separated from their money! You don't have to know Cruisers to identify a ripoff. If you don't know what you're looking at, you should find someone who does, common sense.
cruiseroutfit 12-12-2002, 10:57 AM Sounds like another dime a dozen ripoff to me. Hopefully this scam artist will fall victim and go out of business....:D
Deep South Cruisers 12-12-2002, 02:57 PM sad to say I've done some business with him when I was searching for my 40. I kicked him a few that I found and passed on, same deal.....I could have bought a 75 for $8,000 and it was on his site for $14,000.
I stayed in contact with the seller (who also sold it to him unseen) and after delivery Michigan man had a list of bitches and gripes about the vehicle he bought without inspecting:rolleyes:
now that you guys bring it up..............He still owes me $50 for a finders fee:mad:
misterarj 12-12-2002, 04:22 PM Quick note, guys like this screw up prices for guys like us. I used to be able to pick up Willy's complete for under a grand in good condition or complete bodies for under $200. Now people like this come along and they're selling for 10 times that. Which means when we go to buy another rig, or a few parts, we get gouged.
Big DW 12-12-2002, 05:14 PM UM...I think it's called capitalism....thought that is what this country was built on...If this guy is smart enough to pull it off, more power to the guy...you have to remember....there are a lot of stupid people in this world...
orangefj45 12-12-2002, 09:17 PM that dude is a total goon! i emailed him cause he keeps advertising rigs as fj45s and fj25 when really they are fj40s. his reply was that he was just trying to attract fj45 owners to check out his rigs. what a fawkin ahole!
i told him that if he kept advertising rigs as something they are not, i'd go straight to e-bay and they'll figure out what kind of crook he is.
funny how every single one of his trucks is "amazing" and "stunning",........
this guy is just going to ruin it for a few unfortunate souls!
orangefj45 12-12-2002, 09:21 PM here's a copy of our correspondance (i'm sure that's spelled wrong:rasta: ):
Thanks Georg for the insight.
You obviously take your FJ's seriously. My apologies if I did anything
offended you.

i don't agree with your marketing strategy at all. you
should never advertise a vehicle or any other item for
what it is not! you currently have at least 2 fj40s on
ebay that are mis-represented as fj45s per the header.
i've also seen one of your early fj40s advertised as
an fj25. that is absolute bull!
anybody who owns a fj45 or fj25 knows what they're
looking at and for so your claim that it is an attempt
to attract (lure) 45 buyers to your vehicles is a
pretty feeble attempt at an excuse.
i think ebay would agree with me so please refrain
from further misleading advertising or i will contact
them and they can decide.
georg
ps: i do own a couple of fj45s and a fj25 ,.... so i
know what i'm talking about!

orangefj45 12-12-2002, 09:21 PM would'nt any professional take such matters seriously?! :mad3:
CruisD64 12-12-2002, 09:36 PM I fart in his general direction. BIGBLOCK, Be sure to move out of the way! :D
Gr8Pumpkin 12-13-2002, 06:40 AM I agree with CruisD64, this guy totally fawked me over about 8 months ago. I was a little (lol) nieve about the cruisers, and found what appeared to be a sweet rig on his sight. Some of you might recall it, It's an orange FJ-40 with aibag suspension and a corvette 350 in it. I was told it was a total rebuild in '99, including the motor. Well, since I bought it it hasn't touched the dirt. It leaks oil so bad i was scared to drive it too much. When i was replacing the seals, the guy working on it told me the a connecting rod bearing sounded like it was giving out. I could go on and on and on, but whats the point. I was going to file suit for misrepresentation, but a couple lawyers said that the fees would make it not worth while. Unfortunately I blame myself, buyer beware! Anyway, I wouldn't do business w/ the guy ever again! Capitalism is one thing, misrepresenting your product and fawking 'em over is another. Oh well, gonna make the best of it and wheel the shit out of it.
Tye
Ballard 12-13-2002, 07:14 AM You wouldn't get very far with the misrepresentation thing anyway. Michigan is a Caveat Emptor state. The buyer is resposible with used cars.
part of why Chrysler got away with buying back Lemon Law new POS cars they built and reselling them as used.
944Pete 12-13-2002, 10:12 PM I am glad I was talked out of doing buisness with this guy by you guys here on the board.
check this out, from one of his auctions up right now
Very Rust Free California Cruiser!
http://www.vintageoffroad.com/vehicles/xPC100362.jpg
Look right along the bottom of the hard top and on the bottoms of the door and God only knows where else. Thing looks like a piece to me.
Advent Horizon 12-14-2002, 01:57 AM Come to Alaska. I'll show you 'rust free' :flipoff2:
That thing looks decent to me...
cruiseroutfit 12-14-2002, 03:59 PM I can just imagine the fun that is hiding underneath that dimond plating.... yeah rust free....
dieselcruiserhead 12-14-2002, 05:34 PM I hate to turn against the friend who sold the air bag jobber to that guy but it looks like maybe they're in cahoots! He recently acquired a orange FJ45 wagon from the same guy that came from a shop I knew a little too well. It's in a million and one pieces. Actually half way decent body (but stress the "half way" part) with a replaced floor but it's going to require a LOT of work and a lot of attention to detail. If put together correctly (and maybe not) I bet he'll try to get $30,000 for it...!
:barf:

Last I heard Overton was in Iowa. I too have nothing nice to say about him. :D
dieselcruiserhead 12-15-2002, 12:43 PM Not him, a local guy that me and bfautah know from both of our experiences at different local cruiser shops (bfautah owns Cruiser Outfitters). Interesting character I've heard a lot about but never had a bad experience with personally. Early 30s, 5 kids, standard typical Utah native :) Funny how people can have bad experiences with cruiser shops but cruiser shops can just as much have bad experiences with people too.... :)
But he's into Cruisers and rare ones, also has a body restored but not fully put together FJ25 with factory non-split 16" rims and soft top bows which I thought was pretty cool and was even out at Outback for a little while.
I'm not sure what the story is but the local guy bought the 45, like I said, in a million and one pieces also from Outback. He probably mildly put it together and doubled his money to the guy in Michigan, and now this guy is probably going to double his money too.
Go figure.
