rigs half torn apart and the girlfriend wants to go camping this comming weekend. we were thinking about taking her honda ridgeline in to the lake for some fishing and hiking. any significant amounts of snow right now or any sloppy conditions on the road in i should know about? also ive only ever driven past the lake after leaving the trail, are there any particularly good camp sites i should look for. how about night time temps right now? sorry bout all the questions and thanks for any input.

On the downside, I believe Fish & Game no longer stocks Meadow lake. Thank the Center for Biological Diversity for that one. Fishing is probably going to suck.

Coming from the Santa Cruz area ( your profile) and not planning on doing any wheeling I'd be more inclined to hit The East Carson or Blue lakes area. At least you will catch some fish. Maybe head over Sanora Pass to Levitt meadows on the West Walker?

River is super low right now, even the ridgeline could cross, can't promise you will make it back up to fordyce lake though :) late night shennagins, they are hit and miss everywhere, but we all like night wheelin so you will see someone playing at the v step section of rock on the lake side I'm sure!

He said Fordyce Lake not Meadow Lake guys.

I was there 2 weeks ago, just after the storm, it was beautiful to see this hills/mountains covered with a foot of Snow.
It was melting fast, just in the 24 hours I was there.
Nights were colder than this past week (I came in at 8am Sat & there were lots of puddles & they had a layer of ice on them).

Make sure you go in prepared...

These were taken in the grove next to Fordyce Lake:

Hmmm... I see I wasn't paying attention. But on the bright side no one else was either!
