First time in my Land Cruiser experience I have seen a C-Locker grenade, this came off an FJ60, don't know the details, he said it ruined the axle on the side of the explosion.

That looks just like my buddy Casey's detriot. Except he blew the axle shaft which toasted the locker. Apparently a common happening with detriots and broken axles.

I told him not to drive on it. :D:D:D

Wonder if the axle went and did it or the Detroit failed first?

definitely the axle IMO (depending on the terrain etc) i beleive the axle wipes out the teeth, although i saw one bind during a street burnout in a cruiser (yeah dont ask) and that broke the axle, in a situation where axles wouldnt normally break (it was only on 35s) but if it was rockcrawling my guess would be the axle wedged and blew the shock then blew the detroit, i thought YOU had finally broken a detroit texican!! and i thought wow he mustve broken a axle or birf at the same time! :D never broken a birf BS :flipoff2:

Have him buy a new one.

Casey's blew, and we rebuilt it. After all was said and done it cost the same to rebuild it as it did to buy a new one. go figure. :D:D:D

It was the axle that let go, we heard the snap. He stopped, we looked the situation over, pulled the rear end cover, decided it was the axle. That's were I gave up trying, and they decided the disk brake bracket would hold the axle in until he could get assisted out of the section we were in. He lasted maybe 15 feet and BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM No rear drive. Like I said, I told him to just winch it, but he ain't never listen to no one. :D

Had a friend who also broke a Detroit. He thinks the axle shaft went first. It was rusted (yes no shit rusted) partially inside the shaft where it sheared off, which means it was probably cracked for a long time. He ran Badlands and Paragon a few weeks prior and broke it in his backyard. He was running 36" TSL's.

I have new one on the way, my contact at Randy's Ring Gear would have warrantied it, if I had bought one in the last year, but it had been over 2 since I purchased one......he said parts from Trac Tech would be $$$$$$

Mike, I'll ask him if he needs one, I'll have to visually figure out which side thats fawked I set it up on the workbench and tore it down, don't recall which side the mess was on.
