Cal4Wheel 10-27-2011, 06:11 PM The Cal 4 Wheel event Panamint Valley Days is coming up quick.
You can still register online here:

We've been notified by a Panamint Valley resident (there can only be 3 or 4 of them LOL) that there has been no gas on Trona for a couple of months.
Gas up at Kraemer Junction or in Ridgecrest and bring some gas cans if your rig is thirsty.
Hope to see you out there!!

Ive seen the email going around, and its not accurate that "Panamint Valley" has no gas.
Panamint Springs still has gas. More expensive than Trona, but it remote so its to be expected.

lttlbddy 10-27-2011, 06:31 PM I didn't make the call but I was wondering. I'll gas up before I get there and take an extra can or 2 for those that aren't prepared.
I'll see how many cubic inches their motor is before I set the price on 5 gallons
I'm leading Jail on Friday, Defense on Saturday and a hike up the Surprise Canyon waterfall on Sunday!!
broncdawg 11-04-2011, 09:01 AM Have fun boys, can't make it this year again:(

Just got back from a trip to the Osborne Cabin, and we saw the Panamint Valley Days camp at the foot of the Argus mtns. I was expecting it to be over on the other side of the valley, near Ballarat, but maybe I should read the brochure,
Stopped in at a gas station in Trona that still had it's gas prices sign lit up,but they had no gas and said they couldn't get a delivery. The Chevron station was closed due to pipeline damage that supposedly had been estimated at $60K to repair, so it just closed down. According to the lady I talked to, equipment issues and difficulty (unexplained) in getting deliveries have been the problems in Trona. Suggested either Ridgecrest or pay the grab-your-ankles prices in Panamint Springs.

PVD has been at that same main camp for the last 15 years or so :D
As for the difference in price between Ridgecrest and Panamint Springs, it is a lot longer drive to Ridgecrest especially if you happen to be in the North end of the Valley already.
clusterChuck 11-14-2011, 08:01 PM Shows you how much I know. If we'd had more time, I would have liked to cruise out to the main camp and check it out. I go to HDR just about every year, for the games, but have never done a PVD. Do you know of anyone out there that got caught short on fuel
by Trona being dry ?

We forwarned as many as possible. On the way home, I planned on filling up at Kraemer Junction ... I couldn't find my wallet or my cash. Good thing I had 10 gallons on board. 5 got me home, found my wallet, cash and a Gatoraide are still missing :(
clusterChuck 11-15-2011, 08:12 AM Oh man. Hope the cash turns up. Your backup gas saved the day.
My friend and I were in his Toyota Rav4. I'd seen this forum, so I warned him, and we filled up in Kraemer. That got us to the Minnieta cabin, then the Osborne cabin, then
all the way back to Adelanto, where we filled up again.
lttlbddy 11-16-2011, 09:18 AM Oh man. Hope the cash turns up.
Cash showed up :grinpimp:
It was in jacket pocket; I never put cash in a jacket pocket. That the kind of stuff that happens when you are sick as a dog.
clusterChuck 11-16-2011, 06:10 PM Great ! But the story gets deeper . . . sick as a dog ? Out there in PV, or after you got home ? Either way, welcome to Winter 2011/2012.

I started okay Friday. By Saturday night I had to find someone to lead my Saturday run and had a fever on/off all weekend. Saturday night I cancelled my Sunday hike. Fortunately, no one had signed up. Monday 102.6 fever and a trip to Urgent Care (rode my motorcycle to Urgent Care :p), Tuesday 101.5 fever, last night not bad mostly slept. Today I'm just behind at work :)
I also had 2 meetings back to back Tuesday night and didn't get home until after 10pm.
clusterChuck 11-17-2011, 09:56 PM That sucks, running a fever while surrounded by people having fun, especially when you're part of the staff of the event. You have my respect and sympathy. I see you have a yellow star, so it is your business you are running.

Not sure what you are asking here. 4 wheeling is the hobby, printing is the business. I got the yellow star since I occasionally peddle my wares for pirate members that need help or a decent price on some printed goods.
And it is my business.

clusterChuck 11-18-2011, 05:22 PM Sorry, it was a statement more than a question. I just figured since you were going to
meetings instead of resting at home, and since you have a yellow star, there might be a
connection, and therefore the 'respect' part. Hope you're feeling better, and hope business is good !
