I'm wondering what size tire would fit on my truck with minimun to no lift using the cut-out flares. Anyone know? Need to keep it lower as it's used to tow the Jeep to the trails.

Thanks!

I've seen SD's with a leveling kit and 315's.

I have done a bunch of these lifts. You can fit a 36's tire just with the cut outs. The wider the 36" the more problem you will have fitting it. I have a friend that put 40's on 10" wide rims with just the 4" lift and cut outs. You should be able to fit 38's with a leveling kit and cut outs. You will have to cut out the max you can and either trim the front bumper or space it out or both. You can space the front bumper out by just putting a few washer between the bumper and the frame when instaling the front bumper. If you want to space it out a lot just get longer bolts. The main problem is that with a wider tire it will rub the leafs so you need a wider more offset rim which makes the tires want to rub the fenders more. The 315 on the factory rim will rub the leafs. You can run the 315 stock with modification to the bumper.

Thanks guys! I think 36" tires would be really nice (especially if I wouldn't have to lift it).

SittonHigh, do you have any pictures of trucks with the 36's and cut-outs? Do the tires fill up the wheelwell nicely? What rim width and backspacing would you recommend?

Thanks again!

Sorry no pics. The truck had 16.5x9.75 with 36x12.50 swamper. I don't remember the backspacing. I would gues around 4". You don't want them sticking out too far. I would think we could have got a 14.50 wide tire under it with spacing the bumper out a little more, but don't know for sure. Also these trucks weren't driven off road so I don't know if fitment was good for offroad. Just don't be scared. Just pick the tire and rim you want and see if it will fit. If it doesn't, cut a little more. If all else fails, then you have to get a leveling kit. No big deal it doesn't cost much. You could try a 37. You can get a good riding tire in that size and it will not be real wide. If I was going to put on a tire around that size I would go with a 37" tire.

A friend of mine is running 38.5" Michelins with (I think) a 4" lift and a little fender trimming.
