: Noah's Ark turns up at Means (as trash)

This is from last Saturday. It is on the small butte just east of Randy's Turn Track.

If anyone knows George, Renae, Shelbe, JoJo, Peewee, Dan, Cathy, or D.H.S., please tell them to come get their F*&^#@! trash out of our desert! :mad3:

It is not cute. It is not funny. It is an eyesore. Someone else is going to have to work very hard to remove it...

WHAT? You can't be serious.

I pick up A LOT of trash every time I go out. This is a little larger and heavier than a beer can or an old tire. At the time I had an old sleeping bag half filled with trash in the back of the 4Runner. I just didn't have room for a BOAT. :shaking: I was by myself, in my 4Runner, on a day trip.

If you pick it up over Thanksgiving, thank you, and I guess you are a better person than me...

From what I saw in the pics there were other people on the lake bed if u asked them I'm sure they would have been more then happy to help u get it off the lakebed, if not you could of atleast hooked up a strap and towed it to the road and called hwy patrol and they would have had it picked up

I did not think of that... probably because it would have been WAY too much to ask of someone I do not know.

if not you could of atleast hooked up a strap and towed it to the road and called hwy patrol and they would have had it picked up

So you think it would have been a good idea to drag something that heavy, leaving a huge scar across the desert, to Boone Road, then tear up Boone Road by dragging it all the way to Hwy 247?

That is a really good plan. You are not only a better person than me, but obviously much wiser.

Don't lie Turtle Truck, you dragged it out there for the Hammertown jet boat races in February.

No, they wouldn't have.

Mark, if its not gone when we head out for recon in December, we will get a group and a trailer and I will get a dumptag from BLM so we can get rid of it.

You would think desert hot springs could dump their junk in palm springs.... I bet the white party white party goers could use a boat to ride the white water.

That would leave a burn scar that would last a decade or more. Not good.

Yeah, it didn't hit me until after I posted this that D.H.S. is probably Desert Hot Springs, just down the road. There can't be too may people who spell their name "Renae" there. It would be sweet justice if George and Renae got a nice big fine from the BLM.

When we were down in October a Local driving a red beat to shit Toyota was making his laps dumping trash into a crater and burning it. I tried to talk to the guy but he was always in and out so fast. Once I saw him up semi close I dont think I wanted to talk to him anyways. If you see a crater with a bunch of half burnt crap and a spring matteress that the one. If you see a beat to shit mid 90s toyota hauling ass on Boone, throw a gernade in his front window.

I think that if we get it to Boone Road and notify BLM, it will be picked up via the "dumptag" Dave mentions. We have had abandoned cars picked up in a similar manner.

It is not too long. It would fit on any 16' to 20' car hauler trailer.

There probably isn't anyone named Renae or George..... But there will be 500+ Jorge's and Rosa's with a DHS address.

Looks like a big desert wasteland, what harm is some burnt sand/dirt going to do? For that matter what harm is the boat sitting there doing? I think it's kind of funny, boat in the middle of the desert.

That would leave a burn scar that would last a decade or more. Not good.

Maybe we should dump a bunch of our shit in your backyard, just a bunch of snow, what's the harm?:flipoff2:

Really? Your concerned about a burn scar? I've seen some pretty large "camp" fires down there before with no long lasting enviro effects.

Yes REALLY. Anyone who thinks that just burning this in place is a good idea just doesn't get the ethic of preserving and protecting our beautiful desert lands.

Several New Year's ago a toy hauler burned on the road north of Means toward Clawhammer. Even though it burned on a road that sees a lot of traffic, you can still see the burn scar today.

I am concerned about everything out there. Every piece of trash, every computer monitor that someone brought out, shot up, and left, every careless act. What amazes me is that you are not. :shaking:

I'm concerned with trash. The only burn marks I'm worried about are the fire rings with nails. Luckily it sounds like a few people are planning on removing it

That toy hauler was alot more than fiberglass and wood. It was sad to see it burn.

Do you think that there are some screws and/or nails in that boat?

Another reason not to burn it in place is the air pollution from the burning fiberglass and plywood chemicals and glue. No matter if you care about that or not, the California Air Quality Management District (AQMD) does, and so do environmentalists who would love to use something like that as more ammunition to shut down our OHV areas.

Please people, do not give ammunition to our opponents.

"I am concerned about everything out there. Every piece of trash, every computer monitor that someone brought out, shot up, and left, every careless act. What amazes me is that you are not". Says Mark. How about some concern about all the nails from the fire pits.

Just an opinion from across the country...

but why are you people actually spending time yapping about this? Does it really require that much effort for one of you who wants it gone to load it up and drag it out of there?

I just don't see what the big deal is - just DO IT already :shaking:

lol..... i can't count the number of 5 gallon buckets of nails and metal i've seen pulled out of the lakebed over the years.......

to say there's no concern for that would indicate that we don't clean those up or try to abide by the no burning of pallets out there already.

since koh started, there's prolly less nails on the lakebed now than there were 5 years ago....

well, i personally don't have any place to haul a 20' fiberglass boat.... much less the ability to dispose of it properly.

however, if someone does this weekend, i'll gladly figure out a way to get it on their trailer.

How about you wake the fuck up and learn a little reading comprehension. What he said is the truth, he cares about all that shit including the nails, and so do I. Just because idiots burn pallets in camp and leave nails does not mean it's ok, or that we are ok with it. :shaking:

No defense necessary Mark. You outed some idiots, they know who they are.
Now the people that always clean up the messes will clean this one up too.

Making it public is all that was necessary.

Thanks!!

looks like the bow ring is there---- drag it out to the road----- it won't hurt the road anymore than any 'drag' would--- it has a flat bottom and would even help the road !!

but i can think of NO EXCUSE for it being dropped off out there !!!!!:mad3:

I moved east several years ago after spending my youth with dirt bikes and 4x4s in the desert. After being gone for twenty years, I was saddened by the condition of what I saw when I returned. I am glad to see you guys taking action.

People using motor vehicles for recreation are often confused with assholes who toss trash like people who love nature are often confused with those extreme liberal views. I think most seasoned off-roaders are responsible and see the value of maintaining our assets.
