I have a 74 cj5 and I want a hard top:D .......I have access to a 78 cj5 hard top......If I change the windshield frame on my 74 with one from a 78 will the hard top fit?????Is the tub the same on these years???If I had the hard top I could take some quick measurments and answer my own question but I don't so I need a little help before I buy this hard top........I want to make sure it will fit if I change the windshield frame.......I'm assuming that the windshield frame from a 78 will fit my 74?????

There are 3 diffrent setups for a cj-5. The Acme steel hard top that bolts right up to the pre 76 cj-5. Then there are adapters that tilt your windsheild frame up to use the steel hard top. Then there is a fiberglass one, that fits 76 and newer 5's. But that is not what your asking. Yes you can change your windsheild frame to match the hardtop and doors. I have done this to my 65. You just have to change your windshield hinges, and lower door hinges as well.

.......Thanks for the help..........So all I have to do is get a windshield frame and hinges from a 78 and bolt them to my 74 and I can mount a 78 hard top on my 74:D :D......That seams way to easy:D

Will my windshield and wiper moter fit on the 78 frame:confused:

I doubt the windsheild and motor will fit the new frame. But I am not positive. I am pretty sure that the newer frame is a little more rounded than your frame. I would just get a complete on and be done with it.
