: Chevy Silverado SAS(Pics)
TTURokToy 12-15-2002, 11:06 PM Chevy section is usually dead so I figured I would post these pics in here. Maybe the guy wanting a 12" IFS lift for his burb will get a clue.
This is my brother's 98 Z71. May not be hardcore rockcrawling, but but if you don't like it :flipoff2: He has a bronco that he is building up for his rockcrawling needs.
Start with this.

Don't have any pics of the axles b/c they are getting regeared right now, but they are a HD dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear.
TTURokToy 12-15-2002, 11:15 PM Will have more pics tomorrow night.
Grim Reaper 12-16-2002, 09:00 AM Nice work!
why even mess with a dana 44 in a fullsize? i don't see why you just don't go 60 in the first place

Maybe you need to get a clue. A Dana 44? Looks like a mall poser to me. And by the way an '89 'burb is a straight axle. :flipoff2:
TTURokToy 12-16-2002, 11:00 AM Anybody got a free dana 60 they will let us have? Didn't think so, we'll stick with the 44.
liveaxle 12-16-2002, 12:11 PM Even if its not destined to be a "hard core rock crawler" I applaud you for removing one more IFS vehicle from the rode and replacing it with a liveaxled vehicle.

Actually it is from www.offroadunlimited.com
We could have built the mounts, but they already have it all figured out, so it was worth the money to save us a lot of time.
gunracer1 12-16-2002, 01:37 PM quite your bitchin, i saw the new welder and plasma cutter you conned your dad into buying. it should have been a piece of cake to cut that ifs off. is your toy ready to wheel? if it is load it up and come down to the ranch that alan works on in saginaw. he said that zook would spank that toys ass.

My brother was wanting to save the lift to sell it, so we couldn't just cut it all off.
Is my truck ready, well this is what it looks like right now. You tell me.

Shoot, that is what i ment. Duh. Just wondering if you got it from them or from fabritech, or some other company out there. Seems pricy to me at $750, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Yep, I've seen that truck before..I think it was at clean up this year. I was going to take pics for my roommate (That's his truck that I posted) but I didn't feel like setting my beer down to grab the camera!:D
I really like how he shortened the bed..it looks sweet.

Damn! Weird seeing one of these trucks hanging a tire.
I like it :D :D :D :D
Moxj85 12-17-2002, 01:03 PM TTURokToy, How does your brother like those Super Swamper STS's? The seem to be reasonablly priced but how good are they off-road? All it says on the interco site is, not a replacement for TSL's or Boggers. Bet they do real well in the snow and sand but anyone ever try them in the mud or on the rocks?
TTURokToy 12-17-2002, 01:22 PM They are the 39.5 inch version. I like them and I think they would do well in the rocks. If he doesn't sell them soon I am going to try them once I get my rockwells done.
They are for sale if you are interested in a set. $800. Only reason they are for sale is he is going to get the 44" version. They are really nice on road. They are the most quiet swamper I have heard. I would say BFG MT's are probably louder.
TTURokToy 12-17-2002, 01:26 PM Here are some better pics of just the tires. Will have some more pics tonight of the truck. BTW, the tires are practically brand new.

Kind of hard to read, but it says 15/39x15

You know, he is looking for some 36" SXs. I bet he would take those and some cash if they have plenty of tread. E-mail if you are interested in some kind of trade.
TTURokToy 12-17-2002, 06:10 PM Here is an in progress pic. Will have some more in a little bit.

I think $400 of the kit is in the adjustable bump stops:rainbow:
To get any travel, you'll need to cut the cross member any way.
DirtysouthZ71 12-17-2002, 09:50 PM What size lift is he putting on it? What brand leafs?
TOY 2 12-17-2002, 10:09 PM LOOKS GOOD :D ......more pic's:D
SittonHigh 12-17-2002, 11:52 PM I did a friends SAS on his Z-71. He wanted to run 44's and sit above them pretty good. He got the leafs that ORU said to get, I think he got the 8" or 10" springs. I know I have read that tall lift springs don't flex, but these don't move. They aren't arched that much. They are just stiff as hell. The back twist all up, and the rear springs are arched more than the front. I bet there isn't but a couple inches travel up front. It works for him he just wanted a mall cruiser that can run the mudd. I don't know what vehicle the springs they suggest are supposed to be off of but I think you should try some different ones for off road.
bgreen 12-18-2002, 12:01 AM Those Tires would work AWESOME in the mud
After I fixed them with my Groovin Iron :flipoff2:
Street Truck or not, 44" any thing on a 44 sounds like a marginal idea, and Im A big fan of the dana 44/big tire combo.
