rfrey 12-16-2002, 09:36 AM Check out the first few pictures at this link http://www.thejeepsite.com/~tommy/tlc/
My old TLC Bikini...the chicks dig it!!!! I should have kept that cruiser....Damn taxes!
dieselcruiserhead 12-16-2002, 10:29 AM Holy dash with toggle switches. Has you beat pretty good Glo!
http://www.thejeepsite.com/~tommy/tlc/a020_17.jpg
I like the plexy glass but not sure I'd want to roll on that bar though!
Here's my old FJ40 with leather from a Volvo 740. Bling Bling bolts right in...! Specter Bikini Extreme. Kept me fairly dry even in fierce rain and fairly warm in November in upstate NY / Vermont winters. http://www.collegeinternetsolutions.com/cisautoweb/dtlc/whiteguy/DSC00021.JPG
Stock roll bar though so who am I to talk!
BJ On Roids 12-16-2002, 02:40 PM that toggle switch dash is pretty cool
how many of those switches were functional?
im thinking you could make just about everything run of them, ignition, fuel pump, lights, rear lights, rock lights, nah, im running out of ideas!!??
Deep South Cruisers 12-16-2002, 02:51 PM This was the only "SOFT TOP" picture I could find;)
shamelessly stolen from Chit-Chat
GloNDark 12-16-2002, 02:54 PM HEY!! I only have 4 switches and a horn button. :flipoff2:
Deep South Cruisers 12-16-2002, 02:55 PM BTW, That is a pic of Zakk's girl friend from Chit-Chat, lets limit the comments to........
"Saaaaaweeet Jeeeeeezuuuuuus"
Jason M 12-16-2002, 02:56 PM That girl is really not that attractive..
I found that a TJ bikini top works fairly well when attached to the front bar of the rollcage..

And since it seems 2/3rds of the morons over there are under 12 years old, fitting...!
(what kind of dip shit would post a pic of his girlfriend in a chatroom?):flipoff2:
rfrey 12-16-2002, 03:03 PM Ok....Ok.....
There was NO plexy glass...that was 120 guage aluminum! It is just very shiney because I had just put it on.
Secondly The TOGGEL switches.
I loved them...they were all hooked to something... the only thing that didn't work were the window wipers.
Let me remember....
from left to right....
1 Air compressor
2 Front ARB
3 Rear ARB
4 Winch power
5 Winch toggle in-out
6 Headlights
7 Fender lights
8 reverse lights
9 rock lights
10 radio
11 cb
12 window wipers
13 electric fan
14 Heater (next to the wifes seat)
The one on top was for dual batteries
You can see the digiatal guages...pretty cool (in expensive), but you couldn't see them in direct sun light, nor could you see them once a layer of dust settled on it.
60seriesguy 12-16-2002, 03:43 PM Back to the original topic, I've always really liked what I call the "California Bikini" style of tops, which are either threaded through grommets and/or snap onto the rollcage and remain permanently mounted, allowing you to put the hardtop on and off and/or drop the windshield down. When I have an FJ40 (at the rate I'm going, *IF I EVER* have an FJ40), this is what I would like to run.

What did you use to attach it to the rollbar?
I am going to do somthing simple like this when I get mine done.
TTURokToy 12-16-2002, 04:14 PM here is what rockbiter has. I've ridden in it and it is nice.

BTW, that is rfrey's old cruiser.
mano002 12-16-2002, 04:21 PM I got an old rag top from a newer pontiac sunfire, and I bolt it to the windshield where the hard top bolts up, and then just bungee it down to the door pillars and back to the back corners, the rear window is almost in the right place, and people in the back can even duck under it if it's raining. Actually works pretty good for a free bikini top.
rfrey 12-16-2002, 07:34 PM Thanks TTURokToy! Rock bitter is the one who owns my old cruiser...that is it in the picture!!! Of course Harlen make a couple modifications to make it his own since the sale...
Erick, I used metal tabs from KarTek. I layed the alyminum on the top of the cage, took a pen and drew the shape...cut it with the jig saw, and rested it back on the cage. then pressed the metal tabs frimly against both the aluminum and cage, and tacked them on. After welding them all on, I drilled my holes into the aluminum, then put carage bolts in (so the top stays smooth). I also included a rubber washer between the aluminum and the the metal tab, to try and keep it from vibrating (another reason I went with 120 guage aluminum).
jclothier 12-17-2002, 05:46 AM I wasted my money on a Spectre "Summer Extreme" bikini top- it has a velcro down "sunroof", which lets water just pour through when it is raining! it SUCKS here in NH where it rains all the time in the summer! Don't buy one! I think the aluminum or stainless solid panel is the way to go.

bahahaha, I always wondered what the hell the deal was with those kind of set ups. If I wanted to let the sun in on me, I would take the whole damn top off. Right?? :D:D:DDd
