: Samurai convert to Jeep - greetings
lojones 12-16-2002, 11:17 AM I sold the sammi and bought myself a Jeep CJ7 so i had to switch forums. I am house broken and now how to use the search. After a couple days of reading through your posts i might be hitting you folks up for some info. I'll put some pics up when the jeep is presentable.
1979 CJ7 304>T400>D20>amc20>d30 sprung under with lifted springs and a bodylift.
Ive got a lot of work to do to get it ready for next season. Right now the jeep is a little tall and skinny. i will be widening it and lowering it a bit. Prob do 44s f/r and a simple soa to start.
CJ-Jeeper 12-16-2002, 12:04 PM Welcome:flipoff2:
How do you plan on lowering your Jeeep with SOA?

Remove Body lift and swap Lift Springs for flat wranglers  Is it stupid day? :flipoff2: J/K man, just feelin fiesty from the Pro Crap Thread ;)
lojones 12-16-2002, 01:13 PM Wow 95 posts and i got my first salute.
Keiths got it. Remove lift springs, replace with flat springs and soa, then remove body lift. If that doesnt lower it a little then oh well, ill just stick to widening it to make it stable. The jeep is 83" to the roof, gonna have to air down to get in my garage.

HOLY CRAP! Thats awful big for SUA!!!!! You got any pics?
lojones 12-16-2002, 03:56 PM Ill take some when i get home. i just got it yesterday. It's on 37" boggers so thats where a lot of the height comes from too.
lojones 12-16-2002, 09:06 PM Well here is a picture, its dark so looks like crap. Hard to tell how tall it is from the picture but thats my dodge 4x4 beside it on the left. when your sitting in the jeep you are looking down on the roof of the dodge.
i'll take some more daylight pictures in case someone wants to see.
37" boggers on a D30 front. :nuke: Have fun, you have a great start. :flipoff2:
lojones 12-17-2002, 10:59 AM Thanks for stating the obvious there Hurc, i did say in my first post i was replacing the axles first thing, even thinking of dropping down to a 35" tire.
But on the dana 30 note. I live in WA state, and its a whole different kinda wheeling here. mostly dirt/mud, loose rock and tree roots. Few hard surfaces with good traction to brake axles on like down south. Though those wrangler 30s seem to break when you look at them crosseyed.

Excellent point. I have seen CJ 30's hold up to stress that could explode a YJ 30
Nice ride man. I say SOA with some waggy 7 leaf stock packs, 60's and 38's and that thing will be bitchin
Po' riggity 12-17-2002, 01:52 PM I dunno Keith, Ive seen a lot of TJ D30's go. My HP Yj D30 has held up great and I still have the 260 u joints in it, with 35" MTR's. BTW, the jeep looks good.
