After posting the below message, I went outside and got to looking at my moms jeep, and found that it HAS NO ABS AT ALL!!!! Since I was not the one driving the jeep from the begining I did not know that it wasn't working from the day we got the thing. I was just told by my parents that it wasn't working after they put the lift on it. I think the reason they noticed it after they put the lift on is because they realized the extra wide tires had a tendency to ride up on the snow and allow them to slide. Therefore they felt a need for ABS so they started asking around, and even asked the dumb asses at the dealership we bought the jeep from why it wasn't working and they said "Well it's because of those huge tires and huge lift you put on there, there's nothing we can do to make it work" Not even suggesting that we check the relay or anything. And failing to look and see if it even had ABS. I swear!!!

So anyway, yes as some of you have said, I don't care much for ABS myself and in fact I just disabled it on my 92 GMC Suburban. So no loss I guess in finding the jeep doesn't even have a ABS pump or speed sensors or any of that. Which is kind of weird seeing how it's a 97 but oh well. Whatever!

Thanks!!

Hi All,
We have a 97 Jeep wrangler that we put a 6 inch lift and 33 inch tires on. Ever since we put them on the ABS has not worked. Or atlest it stopped working around that time period. (It's my moms jeep so I'm not sure) But anyway, we've been told from a somewhat unreliable source that it is because of the lift. Wich I do not believe, and we've been told it is the big tires causing it not to work. But I don't really believe that one either because I know how ABS works. But hey anything is possible I guess, and I've been wrong before:-)

Anyway, anyone that could let me know what the problem might be would be appreciated. Or if there is anyone out there that has a similar lift and tires that still has working ABS if you could let me know.

Thank you!

Ha Ha! Well that's one thing I didn't mention is that the ABS light is not on either. The ABS just doesn't work.

The ABS isnt working because it isnt needed. The stock brakes arent strong enough to lock up with 33's. No brake lock, no anti brake lock needed. Just flash your headlights at the people in front of you when you need to stop, kinda gives em a warning ya know.:flipoff2:
