Putting a TBI 305/700R4 into my FJ60 wagon, and I'm looking for the best aftermarket shifter to use. I've used several B&M and Hurst shifters in the past, and have never really cared much for any of them. I want a shifter that'll be daily driver friendly, I don't like having to lift up, and jerk the shifter around to get in a gear! It just seems that most of them are more hassle to shift than its worth. Any suggestions?

I've got a B&M ratchet shifter, and while it does the job, its not the best. When I get the $$ I'll be going with an Art Carr.

I am probably going to put the shifter that I bought and referred to in the above post in my Jeep today. (As soon as I am done typing.) It's a Lokar and from the looks of the parts, seems to be VERY high quality and a good product. I'll let you know more later tonight.

Winters Bros/Art Carr all the way...then cut the gate pattern in the guide plate so you can get from 1st gear to reverse in lightning speed and never miss! That low gearing tranny combo you're setting up may get you vertical in a hurry and if you can't hit reverse "PERFECTLY" and "QUICKLY", you'll be straightening the sheet metal in your roof...which is more difficult than shelling out a LITTLE more $ in the first place.

I like the way the B&M cable shifter looks more than the Lokar, but not the B&M is a ratcheting shifter. Are there any others that work as well as the lokar? I like the Art Carr and the way you can modify it to go straight to Reverse, but those babies are a good bit more expensive.

Just finished installing my Lokar. MAN WAS IT A BITCH! It took me while, but once it was done, it looks SO good and works even better. It's a very solid mount, too. No movement since it goes directly on the tranny. You can't go from 1st to reverse without stopping, but you can go from 1st to neutral without stopping. I highly reccomend.

Where did you get yours and how much did it cost?

I got mine from Power House Speed Shop in Merryfield VA. I think that it was $220?

If you want, I can find the number.
