In the quest to live out of my truck sometime in the next few years I am going to need something to heat up the rear "sleeping" area and heat up the water system I have in mind. The mid 2k's durango rear heating system comes to mind in particular, but I am at a loss of the routing of the heater hoses to the rear, I'm also at a loss at if they just use a vacuum or electric heater valve to control coolant flow to the rear of the vehicle.

Check over on RCC. I know the subject of using minivan or fullsize van rear heater units has come up a few times. All of them use engine coolant to heat so you might be better off with a small 12V electric heater if you intend to use it with the engine off.

The idea for having coolant circulation when the engine is off is to have a small electric pump that will pull water from the lower radiator end tank, pump it through the water/water heat exchanger and into the upper radiator end tank.
Of course though this will only be effective when the coolant temp is actually warm though, but the logic is to have the truck running/plugged in when taking a shower at the end of the day (or washing dishes, cooking dinner..etc) which would recharge the batteries for the night and I could have the heater heating the interior the whole time.
At least that's I think it would work.. :homer:
