Well 1st off I DID search :flipoff2: I'm thinking these prices are fair, wanted to run em by you guys since many of you have far greater experience with the toy axles than I do.

Buddy of mine in my club is thinking of going full width in his toyota so is giving me 1st crack at his axles...here's his email:

Front: Stock birfields and axles, FJ-80 high pinion w/detroit locker and
4.88 gears. Two years ago, I bought the FJ-80 front diff new (not used) from
All Pro Off Road for $1400. I also have a stock pass steering arm to do a
cross over steering conversion (it is NOT welded on)

Rear: Stock axles, 4 cyl diff, full spool and 4.88 gears. The spool is two
years old(not like it'll wear out!) the gears are from All Pro and are about
a year and a half old. I also have a V6 diff completely stock(open carrier
and 4.10 gears) The V6 is much stronger than the 4 cyl diff, but it's not
like you are running a v8 or anything.

I am not sure what to ask so here is my first (off the cuff) prices.
I would like $1100 for all listed above. I figure, $800 for the front and
$200 for the rear, and $100 for the v6 diff.

Now these prices are sounding reasonable to me, but not a deal, you guys agree? Also..Does a Samurai REALLY need the V6 diff in rear? I'm thinking the spooled 4 cyl 3rd would be just fine.

Thanks guys

Sounds good to me...$1100 is cheaper than a HP brand new. I say Jump.

I think that is a very good price without the high-pinion diff. With it, I think the price is outstanding.

I just bought '83 Toyota axles with longfields, 5.29's, ARB's f&r w/pump, high steer, IFS box with ram assist, and a CV driveshaft for $2,400. I thought mine was a pretty good deal, but your's is better.

Thanks guys...I'm now saving my pennies. He probably won't get his full-size axles for a few months so I have time to save up.

Everyone agree that the spooled 4 cyl 3rd member is plenty strong for a Samurai??

I though you could get a new HP front diff with an e-locker and 4.10's for ~$750. Add $200-300 for a used axle to put it in, that makes about $1000.

What am I missing here...something I'm sure.

What I see is the 4.10 gears:barf: Also you need to mod the axle housing for the E-locker. If you have it done it's around $250, that bumps the price to $1000. Add the price of two axles complete..........around $400 + or - $100 or so.:flipoff2:

Sounds like a deal to me. Tell him to keep the V-6 diff and get it all for $1,000; you don't need it. A 4-cyl. third should be just fine with the spool. $200 for the rear... ... he's practically giving it to you. ~Steve

The 4 cyl. spool in the rear will be fine.

The deal sounds very reasonable to me, even more so that you would be getting the goods from a known source w/ a known history, Plus you have time to scrape up the dough. Sounds like 'can't beat it with a stick' deal to me.

That deal sucks!!!! What's his number so I can call him and tell him to lower the prices :D :D. Toy spool price alone is $200. I just bought a used Hi-pinion ARB front chunk for $900. I'd jump on it.
