Hi, I have an 89 Holden Jackaroo, or known in the USA as an Isuzu Trooper with around 190,000 miles on the clock. The auto trans works well most of the time, but, when ever I slow down quickly, say when at an intersection, or leveling out after descending hills, the transmission loses drive and I have to rev the engine before it will drive again.I've been caught out a couple of times with delayed response when attempting to accelerate into a traffic stream.
I originally thought the torque convertor was on the way out, but it still climbs and tows as well as always.
Would anyone have a suggestion as to what may be causing the problem?
Pump? Filter?
Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

my 91 had the same issue, the gears were slipping. all I had left was 3rd and reverse. You need to get the tranny serviced or find another one to swap in. If you have to rev to get to a gear, tranny is going bad. I personally got rid of the automatic for a manual set up. But check out planetisuzoo, much more traffic there than here.
