Both can be had for about the same money...
Both seem to be fairly similar as far as performance...

A buddy has the Hobart, I've used it, it is fine.
Our old buzz box on the farm is a Lincoln, as are many.

What's the general consensuc 'round here?

while Hobart is a good product, I like to stay with name brand products.

What are the prices you found on those machines?

I have the 3200 (same as 135, just different number).

I use it for mig, innershield, and dual shield.

If you have a true 110v circuit with 30 amps, you will probably be fine with both.

I have more lincoln support in my area.

Benny, I think that the Lincolns are basically the same welder, with the exception of the 3200 has casters and a tank holder.

Home Depot has the Lincoln for $435-440. I have a 10% discount deal, so about $425 out the door.

Rural King has the Hobart for around $450-460. Same deal, 10% off occasionally. So, figure $430 or so out the door.

You can get a Hobart 175 (repackaged Miller) for $555 w/no tax and free shipping from www.cyberweld.com and it will weld better than a 135. How is Hobart (Miller) not a name brand.

Stopped by area welding supply place this week to pick their
brains on 120v welders, was told that they are seeing "alot of
Hobart 135 coming in for repairs." Basically the Miller and the Lincoln were equall in their opinion.

Also talked to a customer who they regarded as an expert who said infinite voltage control isn't an issue on these machines,
and that even the Century/Craftsman are just as capable but might be harder to get service on after they are 2-4 yrs old.
Probably not an issue in larger markets.

What the hell isn't name brand about Hobart? becuase they don't charge an additional $50+ for their big name? hobart's are made by miller.

The Lincoln 135's don't always come with gas setups either which makes them cheaper.

I'd say Hobart, Lincoln and Miller are all the same as far as quality if you're not doing 8hr/7days/365 with it. Get which ever is cheapest

Lowe's has the Lincoln 135 for $399....who all has this welder?arc sucks, and i want to weld some stuff without it looking like crap....anyone want to buy a lincoln 225 arc???

If you've done all your welder shopping at Home Depot its not a brand name. ;)

Just because Miller makes hobart, DOES NOT mean they are the same thing with different paint colors.

Ask these guys here (http://www.hobartwelders.com/mboard/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=3) , there is not much difference other than a few parts are made of plastic with the Hobart and metal with the Miller. Through field use from hobby users most could not tell the difference.

So you're saying that if I buy a Lincoln Weldpac 135 form home depot its a different machine than if I buy the weldpac 135 at US Welding or PraxAir or any other welding supply house??? your comment doesn't make sence...and yes I do weld A LOT(aluminum stuff mostly, but as a living) and I will run to home depot to pick up a spool if I run out and its late or a weekend...I guess I don;t know what I am talking about cause I get welding stuff at home depot:confused:

I did not read all of the replies but here goes. I have a Hobart 135 it works fine but is a 110 welder. Some of the Lincolns don't come setup for gas so there is extra cost there. All are good welders. I have been told that the bigger machines that Hobart makes use smaller gears exct. to feed the wire so that could be an issue. I have also been told that the Hobart’s have aluminum windings exct. when the Millers have copper and I have no idea about the Lincoln. I have used all 3 brands and they all weld unless you plan on using it for manufacturing then go buy whatever and start working.

I've never seen a weldpac 135 for sale at anything other than box stores (home depot, lowes, sears) I've never seen one for sale at a welding store. Lincoln 110 welders yes a weldpac no. Now for the rest, grow a sense of humor eh :flipoff2: And from the sounds of it you havent done ALL your shopping at home depot.
