SittonHigh 12-20-2002, 08:43 PM I just rebuilt my front 60. I am getting it ready to put under my Ranger.

I sandblasted it and rebuilt everthing but the gears. I instaled all new shafts and joints throughout. I upgraded to 35 spline outers with Steve Gerstner's kit. It was a WHOLE lot cheaper than buying the Dynatrac stubs. I also am waiting on the steering arms. I designed my steering arms and a buddy is CNC machining them. I do have the calipers, but the paint was wet when I took the picture. I am going to do the gears once everything is done.
This is going under my Ranger. I am putting this 60 under the front, with full hydro, 5.13 gears, Detriot, and moving it forward. I will have a 14 bolt rear with 5.13 gears and Detroit also. The bed is coming off. It has a 5.0 HO motor out of a '92 stang. I have a C6 with a np205 to go in it, and hopefully a np203 gear box in between. I will be running 42" TSL's on hummer rims, but I have 39.5's right now. Hopefully all of this will be completed by April. Atleast that is my goal.:D I plan on posting some pics when I can.
1248bullitt 12-20-2002, 09:41 PM I will be taking 20" out of my frame, putting in hp d60 front, klune-V, tr beadlocks and some 38" tsl's not to mention my new cage and beard seats. I am starting tomorrow and hope to be done within 2 weeks. But seeing how I still need to find a d60 i doubt i will be finished on time. Any body got a 60 they wanna sell to me?

emsoffroad 12-20-2002, 10:55 PM Sitton, If you don't mind me asking? Did you get the large axles(non tapered) for your 78-79 60? And if you did what did it cost for all 4 axles and lockouts?
My project list right now is like a mile long. But the first on the list is get my CJ back together. Right now I am getting all the EFI parts together for my 351w. So far I have the lower GT-40(ported) and the cobra upper(needs ported yet). I will be getting the rest of the parts off a mustang from a friend. My CJ is almost ford anyway, so I guess I can post the stuff here.
Then I am dropping a 5.0 HO in my 4runner, well I'm dropping my 4runner around the 5.0. It will be sitting on a Bronco frame, seams easier since I will be using a Ford tranny, case, front and back rears.
Then I start on my other 4runner, getting close to the same setup, except I have a 429 that needs a home.
While doing all of this I have to swap bodys on an F-350 to get a good work truck together.
Changing out my C-4 for a 435 - 2.7 KluneV - 4.3 atlas combo. Soon as I get some pics uploaded to my site I'll post them.

SittonHigh 12-21-2002, 09:23 AM I did go with the large axles. I got the 35 spline stub shafts, two SPL55-4X u-joints, stub kit (new race, couple seals, spindle shaft bearing), and both large inner shafts for $435 to my door from Steve Gerstner at Differential Engineering. I got the hubs from someone else, but Steve sells them also at a good price. This included machining the stub shafts to fit the Ford. If you want more info on the 35 spline stub conversion PM Steve, he goes by stevegerstner on here, or email at steve@differentialeng.com He is located in Winter Haven, Florida. If you can't tell I highly recomend him.
EMS - That is a long list. How long before you get all of that done? Probably never. I have a BII I have to fix just to sell. Then as soon as I finish my Ranger I have a '78 bronco with 2 shafts, hub, gears, and locker all broken. My brother got a hold of it and somehow managed to do all that damage at once. Then sometime in the next year my wife should get another vehicle and we are going to turn it into a trail vehicle for her with a SAS.
emsoffroad 12-21-2002, 01:49 PM I know it's a long, very long list. I also know that it will never get done. But I got to make the list before I don't do it. Also I almost everything to do it, just need to get the time.
Thanks for the info Sitton.
NOTPRETTY 12-21-2002, 02:27 PM That is a great deal on the 35 spline axles. I like the choices on parts for the overall set up. Reasonable, but strong. 42's should be no problem. When you start putting things together I would love to see some pictures. Particularly the hydro. Are you doing 4 links? Leaves?
Keep it coming.
1248bullit... 20 inches out of the frame? I assume fullsize. Take some pics as you go and post them here so we can all see.

Excellent! I would love to see it. What are you doing with the C4. You can probably sell that to help pay for the other parts.

It’s almost sacrilegious to ever sell EB parts. Selling pieces to pay for others, that almost sounds cannibalistic. I presently have 3 EB's and have owned 2 others. Never have sold an EB part in the + 20 yrs I’ve been owning and driving them. Gave a lot of parts away but never sold any. Hopefully the pic loads.
NOTPRETTY 12-21-2002, 09:23 PM Okay...If you have the money that's great. I unfortunately can't say the same thing.
How much driveline change is there from stock? Move's back how far?

Yup 20" going from 133 down to 113"
masterbeavis 12-22-2002, 12:57 AM I had other plans, but now I am pulling my pumped 460 and replacing the crank :( I did have a cage built by Mike @thisdysfunctional.org before the motor completelty died. :(

Never had a lot of money, just stingy with EB parts. Overall I'm about 4" longer than a stock 435/Dana20 setup. I will be setting it place after the holidays and will update during the install.

IronBenderII 12-27-2002, 10:52 AM hey Tazz, if you need a hand getting that bad boy in let me know. I might be able to swing over and help out.

When I get started I'll let ya know. Right now I want to use it a little more, besides it raining and I didn't get my shop built yet. It won't fit in the basement so it's going to be out side on the slab for the shop. btw how goes the job hunt?

SittonHigh 12-27-2002, 07:25 PM Hey Steve it looks good, but why isn't it a high pinion? What does a setup like that run anyway? Not that I could afford one. Also what is the truck going to be used for?
IronBenderII 12-27-2002, 10:31 PM The job hunt goes on. I'm hoping the new year (and a new quarter) will open up some opportunities.
let me know when you are ready to tear into it. I have a guy coming over next month that wants a cage built. I'll post pics of how it goes!

Dan,
Definitely post some pics when you get it installed. I will be interested in what the driveline angles will look like. The front will be much better that is for sure. Rear should still be long enough.
I will hopefully be putting a 4 barel intake on my 300-6. The stock system is real fawked (1 barel?).
I'm tubing out my 75' Bronco getting it ready for UROC. Here's a parts list RR60 front, D60 rear, 5.13's both ends, ARB's both ends, full hydro steering, 1350 cv's front and rear, 5.0, 700r4, 4.3 Atlas 32 spline, Bilstein coilovers all 4 corners. Who else in Ford talk competes?
NOTPRETTY 12-30-2002, 09:10 PM Unfortunately there aren't many Fords competing seriously out there. I have seen some though. It would be great to have someone to hang our hat on. A guy won Top Truck this year with a vehicle that was a "Bronco". His name is John Reynolds. Lee Novikoff has a very nice tubed Bronco, but I don't think he competes.
Please post your project with pics as you go. We all would love to see it.
:D
bigNATE® 12-31-2002, 12:41 AM well I started budget plow truck
78 bronco paid $500 for her, got 1200 in it and she is 90% done

Grape Ape Ranger 12-31-2002, 06:31 AM We'll it's not necessarily a new project, but it's been going on for over a year now. Almost finished.
'97 Ranger with a 3/4 ton D44 front with 14" coil-overs, full width FF D60 rear, and dual transfer cases. Check out the link:

I'll try to get hold of a digital camera, and get some pics up.
Dennis 01-02-2003, 10:01 AM I'm gonna greese up my CTMs and go play :flipoff2:
Doug K 01-02-2003, 10:26 AM Lee may compete in the Texas Comps this year.
I have spotted a few comps... was at supercrawl spotting a Heep.
I would, unfortunatly, venture that fords aren't the best comp rigs. Too heavy and too wide...
I would like to narrow my EB and tube it for weight, but I doubt I could ever hang in there with a lot of these completely custom buggies. I think while being the BEST out of the box recreational wheelers, EB's get lost in the Competition fury.
Doug
Well I can agree with the EB not being up to comp standards. I narrowed mine a bit, 62" at widest point on the body, axles are 62.5" wms front, 61" wms rear. I was hoping that the front would be 2" wider but I messed up. Wheel base is 103, I still have about 60% of the original frame (heavy ), now that I'm into it this far, oh well, at least the weight is low. Who was at the supercrawl? I'm curious how JRs rear suspension works, I'm sure it works well. But I may have some geometry issues with mine, and I have been looking for some better pics of JRs rig.
Doug K 01-03-2003, 09:13 AM you going to run mog'ed axles? If JR's suspension is anything like Lee Novikoff's with his rear mog'ed 9", then I'm willing to bet it will be impossible to duplicate the geometry present in their designs on a standard designed axle.
There were 2 other EB's at supercrawl along with JR... a narrowed beat up blue one, and the gray narrowed one that was in peterson's a few months ago.
No I'm not running mog's, D60's. But I'm trying to build a reverse four link in the rear( lower arms triangulate on the cross member ). Any suggestions or pics would be greatly appreciated.
Though I would post an update and give IronbenderII his props. He's extending the exo for.
