Started on the buggy
Thought I had a bad ujoint but when I opened up the portal box I found this

There are supposed to be bearing in there but they were in peices and the top portal gear was like this

Luckily I had a spare portal box in good shape so I finished cutting off the mounts that I won't need and primed it so it wouldn't rust

I'm just getting started so next is pinion conversions and drive train. Just depends on funding but I have the motor and the transfer case, just looking for a transmission. I have all the parts I need lined up for the pinion conversion so hopefully i can have those done by the end of the month. I also have 4 3.0 ballistic joints and 8 1.25 chromo hiems - I need to decide if the ballistic joints are better at the frame or better on the axle.

Finally got the parts for the pinion conversion

Got some brackets made tonight that will bolt to the center chunk. these will eventually hold my upper 4 link bars mounts - it sure would be nice to have a cnc machine

How thick is the steel you are using to make your monts out of?
The reason I am asking is I have the same axles and I am in the process of putting them under a TJ.

How long have you been building it?

besides tearing into the axles - I really just started on it monday. I got the chassis in a trabe 6 months ago and have just now got time to work on it. Where did you get your pinion conversions?

They were already done when I pick up the axles.
Now I am working on a adapter for the wheels / brakes.
