Try searching, this has been covered a billion times!

Look for 'outboarding' in the search.

Next time you want to ask a question, try the search first.

 Fawking newbies

I searched quite a bit on this when I was doing my outboard mounts but most of the pics were red x's so here is my pics...my mounts are 36" from center to center...

this is the rear mount...it has a little tab on the mount that is also welded on to the frame between the two gussets:D

I bought them from Mepco 4x4 which is local for me but try http://www.rockequipment.com/hardware.htm they are $18.00 from here...I was too going to make them but then found these ones and decided to not waste my time and just get these...if you have any other Q's go ahead and ask...:D

sorry one more question, on the front hanger what do you use to mount the shackle to. the back is straight forward but the front will need some sort of bushing, did you buy like a hanger from wagoneer and weld it on the outboarded mount so the shackle has something to mount to? am i making any sense? scott

yep you are making perfect sence...I bought some factory ones from mepco and welded them on you can prolly get them from any Jeep dealer...I dont remember what I paid but if you want to talk with mepco their website is www.mepco4x4.com and I'm sure you can get a number there...here is a better shot of the front hanger...hope this helps:D

what springs are you running, i am planning on running the ever popular 44044's but i dont like their price. i want a 2.5 inch waggy spring but havnt heard of a good alternative to the 44044, do you know of any? i am a poor college kid, so price matters :) i got the axles wheels tires gears, all i need are lockers and springs, an i am set. it took me forever to save up and buy the front 60 but i am getting close so i am getting giddy now :) thanks again for all your help, scott

These ones here are 2.5" Rancho Wrangler springs...they seem to be about the right height for my 38s...actually right now they seem a little tall but I have no weight in the Jeep(no motor tranny t-case cage seats fuel cell ect) so once I get it loaded I think it should be good...but I am also running no fenders in the front and have the rear cut comp style...here is a pic of my whole project...also I have stretched the rear 8" so I am sitting at 102" WB in these pics...I either want to run some waggy springs(I think stock ones though) and gain another 4"-5" of WB or IF money permits go coilovers(I will go coilovers but its just a matter of if it will be sooner or later:D)

dang thats sweet looking. i also have a set of 38's how much lift do the 2.5 wranglers and 2.5 waggys differ in. i would like mine to sit similar to yours, especially once its outfitted and sits a little lower, thanks agian, scott

from what I have gathered the stock waggys are equivalent to a 2.5" wrangler lift spring...but their spring rate is higher like wranglers are about 175# and the waggys are like 300# so I think a stock waggy will sit similar to this when setup...

Supergper? Are you running a 80s F-350 front 60, that you had to outboard the springs on a wrangler? Just wondering what front your using.

i notice a lot of yall are using a 4x4 or similar on the front of the frame. is this to reduce flex in the frame caused by the added leverage of the outboarded mounts, scott

Supergper
12-23-2002, 03:12 PM
I dont think outbaording the springs will cause too much added twist...but I think it is always a good idea to replace the factory cossmembers(read: thin and weak for our apps) with something stronger...I didnlt use 4x4 but I used 2x4x1/4" both front and rear...

ok i have a winch plate across top of the frame but i will be sure to also replace the cross memebers, thanks again, scott
