: Dodge Dana 60?
SittonHigh 12-20-2002, 09:11 PM My friend got a dodge dana 60 front. It had the selectro or something lockouts on it. They were shot, so we pulled them off. We tried to put a warn in it, but the hub on the axle has no internal splines for the lockout to slide in. I have built Ford and Chevy 60's, but not a Dodge so all of this is new to me. What options can do we have besides going with chevy outers? Is there a hub that will work? Can I use slugs? Since we are doing all of this we will probably go with 35 spline outers. Any help would be appreciated.
FULLSIZE 12-21-2002, 12:16 AM when the hub came off you had to un-bolt it like a full float rear axle right. if so they are external hubs, not internal like the GM/Ford stuff. i'm lookin right now to see what needs to be done to go 35 spline outers with the external hubs. ;)
SittonHigh 12-21-2002, 09:26 AM Thanks, I understand how they work now. Let me know about the 35 spline conversion. Anybody know about using slugs with this type hub?
3/4tonYJ 12-21-2002, 03:29 PM most folks convert, swapping on chevy/ferd hubs toouse all the "standard internal" locking hubs (either 30 or 35-slpine) or drive flanges.......
i'm also wonding if there is a factory used 35-spline drive flange for the external hub 60's myself..........(if anyone finds some let us know)
i've heard of 30 spline external flanges, (never seen them myself)
FULLSIZE 12-21-2002, 07:00 PM i have 30 spline flanges for spares. came with the early full time era D60's.:D
postal 12-22-2002, 05:11 PM I use factory drive flanges in the Jeep. They're getting hard to find. When I went to 35 spline stubs, I had the flanges re-splined to 1.5" 35 spline. Locking hubs just aren't strong enough and my Jeep is off road only, so I don't need to unlock 'em. A lot of guys are buying the Warn drive flanges now.
I believe the Dodge drive flanges were an external bolt-on style.
3/4tonYJ 12-23-2002, 11:44 AM i've had the thought  of cutting the ends off some full floater rears and having them broached (spelling?) "internally splined" to use as front drive flanges for the external locking hub dodge 60's..............35-spline of course :)
rodzzilla 12-24-2002, 08:40 AM Check with PIG (http://www.polyperformance.com) . He has 35 spline drive flanges. I always wondered if they were interchangeable between the F & R.

How are they "shot"?
I have some 30sp bolt-on flanges.. I'd love to trade for lock-outs, since this axle is going under my tow-rig..

Anyone know the difference between the "earlier" locking hubs and later locking hubs, listed on the MileMarker site?
Lists part 11017-01 for 68-75, and 11034-01 for 76-89.
The set of 11034-01 is $100 less than the 11017, and isn't on back-order, either..
3/4tonYJ 12-25-2002, 07:41 AM tsm1mt: thats what i'm talking about, i'd make the trade if i had an extra set........also one of my caps is cracked, (still works, just not water tight) and i've been looking for a used one.........i've seen ones that have a different internal spline count, something like 17........(instead of 30).........maybe thats the different in my milemarker #'s.........
wants up with the Ford caliper?
these 35-spline flanges PIG sells are sweet, i've love to have a set, but $380 is alittle out of my price range.....

My buddy's building a Ford 60 for his '79 Bronco.. had a new caliper handy, so we were test fitting and comparing with the GM/Dodge caliper just because we could. :)
I'll just use the 3 3/8 single piston calipers I already have.. but I did think for a moment about the dual piston units. :D
3/4tonYJ 12-25-2002, 12:07 PM tsm,
i pretty sure the "milemarker" and the "selectro" are the exact same hubs (ust different caps) i think 11034-1 is the 30-spline external hub.
i also was looking for some and think that superwinch may have made some at one time also............
but just send me an e-mail when you want to get rid the flanges
:)

My milemarker part time kit for my 5 on 4.5 says selectro on the hub.. i am pretty sure they arent different companys, but just another way they label their hubs. (that front axle is for sale btw ;) )

Per the MM site, they now list "Selectro Classic" as one of their lines.. which is the ONLY place in MM's catalog you'll find the external bolt-on 60 hubs.
From this I've assumed MileMarker bought out Selectro/Dualmatic at some point in the past.
My '77 Scout used to have Selectro/Dualmatic locking hubs on the front of it.. I blew up 3 of 'em and ran out of spares so I switched to the factory Warns..

All of the ones I've measured were a different bolt pattern between the front and rear. So no, they won't "interchange".
SittonHigh 12-27-2002, 07:18 PM My friend has more money than brains. It is being worked on in a 4x4 shop. Before I could tell him I found a hub for him, the shop his truck is at got him to order a rebuilt front 60 from Boyce. So now he has an extra front 60. What a waste of money. Thanks anyways guys. Atleast I know what to do if I run into another one.
