: Snow Run !
Reddog 12-21-2002, 12:51 PM Well BKCruiser started this thing and it sparked quite a bit of interest.
Let's get a count on who wants to go and freeze their fawkin asses off for a day in the snow ?
Gotta pick a day too, Saturday or Sunday ?
We're planning on the weekend after Christmas, going to PI PI Valley, and every one can meet at my place in Pioneer.
Who all's up for it ?

Hopefully Sunday will be a nice day :)
Meet at my place Sunday, between 10 and 11 AM
That'll give some extra time for those who have to drive the farthest. I think Peter in his FJ45 is coming the farthest, from San Jose, that's about a 2 and 1/2 hour drive.
PI PI Valley is only about 15 minutes from my place. And once we get there BKCruiser is going to lead the way, to where ?, I don't know but it shouild be fun.
Don't forget, dress warm and bring somthing hot to drink ! I'll be the one in the big fat snow mobile suit, I'll be looking like a walking blue marshmellow
Nobody better not laugh cause I'm a snow-wheelin MOFO !
I'll be bringing my propane burner, hot chocolate for the kids and Irish coffee for the adults ! (except for Andy, he's British :flipoff2: we'll have to bring some tea for the old Krusty Limey :D BTW hopefully I'll have my new CD player installed and we'll be listening to U2 at 150 decibles :p  JK, he he he ) I better shut up befiore he drives over my hood !
Anyway for those who don't know, my place is in Pioneer, 16450 Scout Way. It's about a mile off the highway, Highway 88.
See Ya Sunday !!

They say the Irish have a soft spot for the English - it's a peat bog in County Derry! :D
You can play U2 as loud as you want - there will be no objections from me - make sure to bring some of their early albums (still can't beat Joshua Tree, IMHO) Might even bring a sample of KrustyMusic (tm)
Dont for get to bring snow shovels, rope, and some tarps, in case of troubles.

Good point ! I'll probably get out there and "munson" my rig right off the bat ! :D
(BTW, I thought that was one of the funniest movies I ever saw, "King Pins")
Also I like to mention the this is an official Rock Dogs sanctioned event and club rules apply...........NOT !!!!
Ha ! Like we really have any rules, LOL ha ha ha ha !!! :D
On a more serious note for all those who are shocked by that statement, please don't get me wrong, We are well trained Dogs and we do behave ourselves and obey the laws.
I do tend to get a little excited at times, I run around and pee on every tree and growl at people, but I don't bite.
No real big deal, what do you expect from a Rabid Rock Dog :D

Is this run happening?:flipoff2:
Reddog 12-26-2002, 06:26 PM Yes it is !
So far about 6 or 7 people have commited, including mine, that could be as many as 8 rigs !
A couple of 55s , a couple of 40s, a 45, maybe a mini truck, a Land Rover and even a jeep
I hate to admit that,.... the Rock Dogs are exclusively a Land Cruiser club but when we go out everyone is welcome, no matter what they choose to drive :)
Even if only half show up we're still gonna have some fun !
10 AM Sunday at my place. Come on up and join us. :D
I don't know if we can fit it in, but I'd like to bar-b-que some burgers at my place after the run. Just so happens I got a new 3-grill gas bar-b-que for Christmas ! Thanks to my better half:D
bkcruiser 12-26-2002, 09:19 PM Andy & Josh
Chrystal asks that you bring your guitars, she's bringing hers.
you guys can provide the evenings entertainment at the barbque
Don,
what can we bring to help with the dinner? Besides five mouths to feed.:D:D :D :D :D
ROCK HUGGER 12-26-2002, 09:20 PM Don is there still alot of snow at your place?
Reddog 12-27-2002, 03:23 AM I had about 8 inches......of snow that is. But it's been raining and a lot of it is melting away. It's been about 39 to 40 degrees.
This new storm, we're getting right now should drop a bit more . The weatherman says the temp is going to drop 10 degrees by Saturday.
It's supposed to clear by Sunday, partly Cloudy Sunday, I hope.

:(
Reddog 12-27-2002, 03:22 PM We'll have a special "run" for you FC, I'll bring the assult rifle and you can see how far you can run ! :flipoff2: No just kidding, friends don't let friends shoot at each other. But I bet I can shoot a snowball off your hat at 50 paces
Too bad you don't like snow, I'm thinking it's gonna be a whole lotta fun !
BKCruiser, I'll set up the Bar-b-que and supply the burgers, buns and the fixins. How's about bringing somthing like a pot of chili ?
Everybody can their own choice of beverage.

peterfj40 12-27-2002, 05:17 PM hey don, your mailbox is full...i may be a no show,,,depending on if i can get out of the family thing...if im not at your house at the meeting time, then im either not gonna make it, or i'll try to meet up later on with you guys somewhere in the snow..
ROCK HUGGER 12-27-2002, 07:23 PM I just got back from Omo Ranch/Pipi valley, the snow was not very deep. The deepest I found was only about 10" max (other than the piles from the plow). I went down to Pipi campground,
I think farther down the north south road it would continue to get deeper.
Reddog 12-27-2002, 08:31 PM yeah it's been melting pretty fast. The snow I had at my place is almost gone.
I heard the snow level should be dropping between now and Sunday, down to 5000 ft. That's about Cooks Station.
Reddog 12-28-2002, 04:45 PM Saturday evening update :
I just got almost two inches of fresh snow in the last hour or so and it's still comin down pretty heavy. At this rate there ought to be plenty of snow in Pi Pi Valley.
ROCK HUGGER 12-28-2002, 10:41 PM What channel are you guys running on th CB?
Are you planning on heading Omo ranch to Pipi valley that route?
I am not sure yet if I can make it but if I can I might try and meet up somewhere.
Reddog 12-29-2002, 05:53 AM We'll use channel 12.
Hope to see you up there :)
double eagle 12-29-2002, 06:15 PM Sorry I wasn't able to make it. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone and trying out the new set up on my 55. SOA 420 and 35's. We had an all night babysitter and ended up having way too many drinks at a coctail party. I passed out sitting up on the couch wile the party went on around me. Stayed there until around 10 this morning. Luckily no one shaved my eyebrows or drew on my face. Anyway I missed it and hope everyone had fun and look forward to the next one. Hopefully soon! You ROCK DOGS are such nice folks!
JOSH;)
bkcruiser 12-29-2002, 07:41 PM Here's some of what you missed,
bkcruiser 12-29-2002, 07:42 PM two
bkcruiser 12-29-2002, 07:43 PM three
bkcruiser 12-29-2002, 07:44 PM last, Don has more
these were the only three rigs who made it, the rest must have gotten their weeny rigs stuck on the rain soaked pavement at the mall:D
Reddog 12-29-2002, 07:57 PM I had a great time, the snow was deep, the scenery was beautiful and the company was great ! Glad you guys could make it. :D
Kathy, the hot chili was excellant !
Here's a few more pics, BTW you guys must have found the camera.:)
Reddog 12-29-2002, 07:59 PM another, Hey , that's me ! :D
Reddog 12-29-2002, 08:09 PM Those are some big ass tire chains hanging off the rear. I would have saved Bill's winch a bit of work if I had those chains on the tires, Thanks again Bill for winching my sorry ass back up that hill:rolleyes:  :D
Reddog 12-29-2002, 08:12 PM another
smtyblt 12-29-2002, 08:15 PM that looks awesome guys wish we had that stuff out here to wheel in every time we try to go snow wheeling the park rangers run us off. A freind of mine james at 4x4connection formerly known as landcruiser connection goes wheeling every year in elkton west virginia good wheeling there 250 to 300 inches a year of snow always end up digging someone out
Reddog 12-29-2002, 08:19 PM Oh I almost forgot, the snow angel !
Reddog 12-29-2002, 08:21 PM Let me try that again:rolleyes:
The Snow Angel !
Iron Goddess 12-29-2002, 08:31 PM What a blast. The snow was perfect!! When do we do it again. I'm glad Santa brought snow boots this year.
Reddog 12-29-2002, 08:33 PM And nothing like some good eats to top off the day !
Burgers and Hot chili ! :D
Reddog 12-29-2002, 09:01 PM I like the way this one turned out...
Pygpen 12-29-2002, 09:09 PM Thanks for the excelent hospitality Don,
The smow was perfect, your home was warm, and the burgers and chili.....Mmmmmm. We had a blast, the little snow angel is still all wound up telling Mom about it.
PMK
ROCK HUGGER 12-29-2002, 09:37 PM Did you end up going to Pipi?
Sorry I could not make it  I had to get started today on a soa, sr, hi-steer for my father in law.
Is there going to be another snow run coming up?
I like the snow, but my swampers don't care to much for it.
Reddog 12-30-2002, 08:22 AM Yeah, we went into PiPi, there was one hell of a lot of snow up there ! They had about one lane on the main road plowed. We went to to first cross roads, broke thru the plow burm and went for it. It was fun, the snow was about waist deep in spots.
We were doing great till I went down a steep incline and lost track of where the road went.... I got stuck, hate to admit that, but I couldn't back out of it.
To make a long story short , it was easier to have Bill winch me out rather than put on the tire chains and tear up the hillside. Bill was happy, he got to try out all his new winch rigging and I was happy to get a tug :D
So we had some lunch and watched the kids play in the snow. They had a blast !
fc187 12-30-2002, 11:37 AM That is awsome you guys had a good time!
and it is REALLY cool to see Bill back on the trail!
Reddog 01-01-2003, 10:11 AM BTW the fire I promised you guys, I finally got it lit :)
Reddog 01-01-2003, 10:13 AM In fact after a few large glasses of brandy I even managed to light the snow on fire !
Happy New Years everybody !:D :D :D
wngrog 01-01-2003, 10:45 AM Snow looks like a lot of fun! Kinda like mud, but you don't have to wash it out from under your truck!
:jealous:
