My '77 Ford F-150 w/ 9" rear. Running 38" Super Swampers, 5:13's and a Detroit in the back. I replaced outer seals and bearings in the rear end. I can not get it to stop leaking fluid into the brake drum. Appearantly, the seal isn't working/installed correctly. The axleshaft seems ok, not worn excessively. I gooped the inside lip where the race meets the stop in the housing. No help there.......... Totally mystified. It's seems to be coming from between the axleshaft and the bearing????? Any ideas? There's millions of this rear end out there, maybe it's happened before????

Check the axle shaft for pitting, grooves and what not. sounds like you cuold have a bad axle shaft. They make sleve kits for this, but you would be better off putting a new axle shaft in there

That's a good possibilty...... I'll give it a shot. Not much to lose. Something esle i came up w/ is maybe the yahoos at the machine shop didn't 100% press it on. Don't know if that would make a difference or not.... Thanks.

Did you have the bearings pressed onto the 9 incher axleshafts? Maybe they wern't pressed in right.
