: Huntin' for full-size carnage
pyro57 12-22-2002, 03:58 PM Send Me Fotos!!!!!!!!
Crave fotos of full sizes on the rocks. I'm looking for ideas. I'll steal some of yours. I'd put some fotos of my rig, but I'm waiting for Lance to turn on my attachments doo-hickey. The first time I ran the 'Con, I was in a '78 F-150. Shortbed, 33's, Detroit-rear. It was completeley straight. By the time I reached Buck Lake, I had to use a hammer to get my passenger out. The rocks had done their own body work. But, that was a long time ago, back in the rookie days.......
Now all of the goodies outta that truck are in my kick-ass '77. So, I'm a hard-core fullsize fan. If a jeep can do it, I can do it faster, harder and longer.......And all w/out putting new axles, transmissions, motors and transfer cases from a full size in a jeep body.
rodzzilla 12-23-2002, 04:23 AM Check out here (http://www.rockmodified.com/rockmodified/) They have some posted in different areas.
High5 12-23-2002, 06:10 AM yeah, if you can "do it all" with a full size 1/2 ton and not change the axles then you are not gettin it!

I do a fair amount on half ton sticks under a 5500lb K5 on 35's. Now I don't have the rocks they do out west but I hold my own at Tellico. I do run CTM's and warn shafts in the front. Will be going to some better rear axle shafts in the future.
This attitude that you HAVE to have a D60 is out of hand. It just depends on where you wheel and what you want to do. I have more clearence under my diffs than a truck on 1 tons and 38's. I'm on a budget and can't affor to shell out $3k + to get them and I don't want to be on anything bigger than 35's because my truck does get used to pull the camper to the trail head.
Plenty of the hard core wheelers run half ton sticks including Lance Clifford who runs a D44 in the front of his cruiser.
wish i would have had a camera last trip to the hammer.
there was a full size blazer on sledge that was on it's roof. very cool
MudzerK5 12-23-2002, 08:32 AM Camo, What would be cooler than that is to see an actual photo of your rig in a car crusher. Maybe you could stay in it for kicks.:flipoff2:
Hey Grim, I'd like to see Camo drive through Missouri on a nice subzero winter day. It'd be funny to see his lugnuts froze off! Hey Camo, dont lick those olive drab tubes in freezing weather - I'd have to get my spatula out!

Sorry...Don't wish to get dragged into your pissing match with Camo.
MudzerK5 12-23-2002, 09:16 AM Now, that was funny!

hey i ws not trying to piss in your wheaties. but when he says in his post "If a jeep can do it, I can do it faster, harder and longer.......And all w/out putting new axles, transmissions, motors and transfer cases from a full size in a jeep body." i have to raise the bs flag. i like full sizes too and i have wheeled with quite a few but if you wheel it like he says he does then a stronger axle is needed. heck i broke a couple of stock d60 stub shafts in my little jeep before i finally gave up and got 35 spline outers so i know the heavier full size would only make matters worse. i'm just calling it like i see it.
gunracer1 12-23-2002, 10:34 AM i think you are just being a mean ass bastard. getting your kicks from flogging newbies. and pulling up the obvious fact that he doesn't wheel very hard.:flipoff2:
