On my 1991 Montero LS 4x4, I am thinking of taking out ALL the interior carpet, and putting bed liner as a replacement. What do you think? Any other suggestions?

There's no reason too. It's in very good condition. I'm making it a daily driver/weekend offroader

Stop being a jerk, dude. The guy was just asking a simple question, opinion. He should be on a different board. You should stick to the Jeep board if you have a low opinion of the Mitsubishi product.

I prefer to think of it as an accurate opinion of Mitsubishi product. He asked for suggestions, and I gave him one. :crybaby2:

Would you prefer that I told him to search? He could be reading the in's and out's of bedliner as insulation right now. (might have to look in the jeep & toyota forums)

If jeeps are so amazing why are you browsing the Mitsubishi section? Tired of breaking axles or something?

That is not a bad idea. That way you can just hose it out later after a muddy day.

Not sure how much bed liner will quiet it, though I expect not much. Be ready for it to be loud and hot. Maybe not the best for a DD.

My 87 isn't lined and carpet is pulled. Not sure if how much heat the turbo pushes underneath, but the center console floor area can get so hot you can't keep you hand on it.

One idea I have played with is to throw some sectional pieces of carpet back in to mellow it a little.

I'd put my $400 '86 Montero up against any $1000 Jeep (do those exist?), just for fun. We'll see how far they both go.

Don't knock it until you've tried it, Jeep guy. Sell one of those fancy driveshafts you had to buy so the stock one wouldn't break on you, go and buy an old Montero, stock, and be amazed.

And to think I missed out on all the fun over here on Pirate for all these years.

jeeps are good vehicles. i would love to take the body off my Raider and drop it on a Jeep frame and driveline. The advantage of the superior mitsubishi body and the awesome jeep driveline. a real nice combination. but without a buttload of money......

guess i will stick to my set-up for now

jeep guys are weird, they have no idea where they come from, they think they invented 4WD everything. Mitsubishi has been doing 4wd longer and actually had a lot to do with what jeep is today, so show some respect.
We should make a sticky post with info so that the next time some teenager with a YJ want's to post nonsense in our forum he can at least be educated first.

Without Mitsubishi there would be NO Rubicon, NO JK and the TJ would likely be a YJ still . Check your factory springs, lockers, electronics and look for diamonds.

Here's some interesting Mitsubishis :flipoff2:

WTF? You are just being sarcastic right? I was thinking that if you got the Jeep shell and put it on an entire montero then people would "know" what it was and be amazed that you haven't broken an axle yet.

If you are serious, then I feel sorry for your poor judgement. :shaking:

I guess the sheep... I mean jeep guys just don't understand how something that isn't trail rated can be a better off-road vehicle. Guess I should gets me some trail rated badges so I can fit in.

Their is some stuff you can use to help block the heat from the raod and the motor, but you would have to clean the body to get it to stick first. Some companies that sell carpet kits sometimes also do rubber kit too. one I looked at did all the way up to the back of the rear seat. But after that, you could always bed liner the rest of it though. Might come over to where most of go for Montero/Radier advice and avoid MONTY Envy. And I own 2 cause I like hauling 3/4 cord of wood and my kids in and out of the woods!
