: Warning about vendor: autopartsgiant.com

I'm not trying to vendor-bash, just giving a warning. Personally, I will never do business with these guys again. I ordered a taillight lens from them. The price was $14.81. Great price, right?

When I went to "checkout" on their website, it said that my total was $16.03. Most sites will tell you total including tax and shipping at the time of checkout, so I assumed that was the total price, not to mention the invoice said "TOTAL" in big, bold letters.

I got an e-mail from them right away confirming the order and the charges. Then, nearly 4 days later, I get another e-mail from them stating that my card has been charged $20 for shipping and handling!

I called them this morning, and asked if this was a mistake, they said no. So I told them to cancel my order, and they said ok, but they were going to charge me a 25% re-stocking fee for canceling my order. I told them that this was unacceptable because I would have never have bought the item from them in the first place if I had known that their shipping charge was so exorbitant. The guy wouldn't budge.

The whole business seems shady. The guy was barely understandable. His manager was not in. When I asked him for his managers name, he was reluctant to give it and said the he did not remember his mamagers last name.

Anyway, my recomendataion is to avoid these jerks.

Yep you are fully protected from shit like this with your credit card. Tell them to cancel the order and they can charge you any restocking fee they want because you are cancelling payment. Dishonest business should be shut down.

Call your credit card company immediatly, tell them that you want to put the charges in dispute... you only have 30-60 days with most major credit card companies to do this.

Unfortunatly.. i think the 20 dollars shipping and handling is blown out of proportion on your end, and since you bought from the site you are kinda tied into their terms and conditons that im sure you read right?? It was on their first page. If the weight of the tail light wasnt over 15 lbs, and they truely did charge you 20 dollars, you have a leg to stand on.. if not.. suck it up, pay the charge.. you forgot to read the terms and conditons so you kinda screwed yourself

There are federal laws against charges like that. Even if its stated on their site, you have to check your local and federal laws.

they are fine with the shipping charges.. the charges about they will tell you how much extra it is, after they bill you, those are the ones i would question..

I never heard of a taillight lens that weighed even close to 20 lbs, much less over 20.
