Two weeks ago, at the request of some local citizens, the BLM, USFS, NDOT, two of our County Commissioners and one OHV representative met at the Canyon to discuss the complaints. While there were no concrete decisions made at the initial meeting, we can be assured that substantial changes are coming for this riding area. Fortunately, only one of the citizens was advocating total closure; the rest of us were primarily interested in organizing and improving of the area.


Friends of Wilson Canyon (FOWC)

The Friends of Wilson Canyon is a coalition of groups and individuals dedicated to keeping Wilson Canyon open and available to all recreationists. We intend to work with Lyon County, the BLM, the USFS, private businesses, many organized recreation groups, and other land management agencies to ensure that the Wilson Canyon area remains open as one of Nevada’s finest examples of a multiple-use recreation site.

We are all partners working towards the same goal: to keep Wilson Canyon open and useable to all trail users, while preserving the aesthetic beauty of the Canyon and its surroundings.

We are also about responsible use of the existing trails. We don't advocate creating new trails, making new hill climbs, or traveling cross country off the established trail network. We advocate obeying the rules of the law, sharing the trails with other users, and responsible use of our public lands.
