: Engine Swap time?
Orionn 01-02-2003, 05:16 AM The 1.3 is dieing a slow death, burns oil, sucked in some water, but runs still.
The poop is I want to put in a 8v 1.6, but I can get a good 2.9 V6 Ford from a Bronco II for real cheep.
any opinions?

Gee.......let me think......I did read about using that search thingy awhile back  :flipoff2:
I read that one, and a few others about a year ago.
what I asked for was OPINIONS........yea, and I know their like A$$holes and they all stink!
so this time let me be more specific here.
I can get the engine, NP
length is NOT a problem
mating to a tranny is NOT a problem
the rest of the drivetrain, NOT a problem
any installing issues, NOT a problem..........
so the question is, those that have done it, (or any other V6) was it worth it?
just looking for some current input.
thanks
did you search?   ............. newbies:rolleyes:

I say find a 1.6. Probley allows more possiblities for gearing your rig.:D
Gozuki 01-03-2003, 02:05 PM I have a 1.6, pulled it this weekend, got a 95 3.0 ranger motor and 5 speed to put in it. Looks like I didn't get all the wiring/sensors/crap I need....

I am still consedering the swap, I will post the whole story after its done.
TNToy: yea the post thing is pretty silly, but if you look, I was asking for opinions and was smacked a bit for not searching, my fault, I never said that I had done a search, so my appologies to whomever I may have pissed off.
peace :D
jdetar 01-05-2004, 09:34 PM Orionn,
I just recently decided on dropping a 2.9L and C-5 into my Sammi. I'm probably going to be purchasing the engine and tranny tomorrow actually. Talk to Tim at Wild West 4x4. He's done the 2.8/2.9 swaps many times in the past and knows his stuff quite well. I just bought motor mounts and a bunch of instructions from him to get me going. I will be sure to post information more as I have it.. I'd appreciate the same from you too if you plan on doing this as well! 2 heads are better than 1!
I think it's going to be worth it. The engine is very lightweight, and you end up with some pretty hefty power figures compared to the stock puny 1.3L. Just make SURE you do proper cooling!! If that engine overheats your heads are going to crack (especially if that engine is pre '90)
EDIT: I just looked at the date on this thread!! HAHA! An entire year ago.. dang.. I went crazy with the search :) So yeah.. this is probably all nullified.
.. so did you do the swap? :D :D
Orionn 01-06-2004, 11:58 AM Wow.....I must be having a flashback or something here.......
I decided to not do the swap, its not what i was looking for.
ITs a decent swap, and thanks for the info, but I am more familiar with the Ford 90* V6 series engines than I care to think about.
Good luck take some pics of it while your building and post them up.
jdetar 01-06-2004, 01:39 PM Alright cool.. will do. we're probably picking up an engine and tranny and goodies tomorrow actually.. oh fun fun fun :)
