I am gettinng $1000 back from insurance for my bike. I was looking at a Santa Cruz chameleon, or a Cannondale jekyll. Is there anything out there that stands out?

I like the Jeckyll a lot, but (as with all cannondales)I hate not having the choice of what forks I want- look into this before you decide, once you buy a Cdale, you're stuck with their line of forks... Though, I've heard good things about the lefty that comes on the Jeckyll if you're a light and/or non agressive rider...

I personally like GT- but with the current situation and uncertainty of the company, I could understand people looking to other bike manufacturers. Most of the guys I talked to (aside from the guys that get "custom" frames made) are going with Santa Cruz... but it depends on your riding... find a few "suckers" to let you ride their bikes for a day and see what feel good...

I have to agree with the comments on C-dale. After selling them and working warranty on them for 7 years I wouldn't buy another. I really liked the suspension fork they came out with in the beginning (made by Marzochi) with the "on0th-fly" lockout. The second generation was really bad, with the lastest fatty line not being too bad.

Course if you really wanted the C-dale, might I suggest the Woody.
