yooper 01-05-2003, 08:56 AM Toyota called this color Metallic Beige. It looks kind of gray. It's very confusing. It's really a warm metallic brown.

Well yeah it has 330,00 miles but we(I bought it for my girlfriend) just got it a few months ago. It had been parked for over a year and before being parked it had $8000 of work done to it by Toyota and other places, this was done as the PO was going to have his kid drive it to school, but he got him a Kia instead. So the damn thing was just like a new Cruiser......it ran like a dream. I have known this 62 sense the PO bought it in 1991, with 60k on it.....never off road, just lots of miles, all the work that was done was done by folks that I use so it was all done right.
Best part, as it had so many miles Connie's insurance company would not put full coverage on it unless it was certified by a mechanic. We passed on that but she did have comp and requested theft. But guess what? the insurance agent never called to tell her that they could not add theft.......so we are just shit out of luck!
And in case no one figured it out I have joined POR :) and yes I'm a fawkin newbie(here) but I have a bit of Cruiser experence and know alot of you.....for better or worse!

John,
IF the agent led your GF to think she had theft coverage or he never confirmed that this was not included after you ask for it, then this may not be so cut and dry. Bypass the agent and go right to the insurance company and file a claim, let them send a formal denial letter due to lack of coverage. Work with the adjuster that issued the denial and then your agent. The coverage that comes in to play is call “errors and emissions” (E&O) coverage that your agent maintains incase they screw up a policy. The agent and the insurance company will hash it out and most likely in the end either the company will simply pay it, or the agent will pay it out of pocket. For $7000-9000 it is just not worth PO’ing a good customer. (Most E&O policies have a monster deductible the agent hast to pay anyway) Keep in mind this is just a start, and if a true omission was done on behalf of the agent, it could be a long drawn out process. Simply reporting the loss to your insurance company will not effect your rates. Let them be the ones to tell you they cant pay the claim due to coverage issues, not the agent. (Some companies give bonuses to agents for low # if reported claims) Overall just something is consider.
BTW, I will keep an eye out for the 62 here in Portland, I look at all cruisers anyway! Sorry to hear this happened.
Mark
That sucks dude, I hope you get it back.

Mark, thanks great tips! I passed them on to Connie, we arn't done yet with them......no way we would give up that easy.
Had a report yesterday from one of the gals at the coffee shop, she saw a 62 that matched ours on the side of the road, she went back to get the plate # and it was gone:( So hopefully it's still on the road which is better than some of the other options!
LOL I know what you mean.....I look at EVERY Cruiser as well. Two of the local cops have Cruisers so that up the chances a bit, heck even the Police Chief has a Toyota Stout(orignal owner)
BTW I REALLY apreciate the help and eyes looking I have gotten from people I don't even know:)

fj40guy 01-06-2003, 07:43 AM Is that a 1 1/4" hitch?

Good eyes.....yes it is, the PO towed a pop up camper and an inflatable boat(for his work) has two sets of trailer light plugs.
The motor also has an odd modification, has a oil line(hard) that runs from the plug on the head(the one that blows out) to the oil filter braket, this was an atempt to keep it on the road when it had a cracked head, now has a new head and the mod stayed in place.
Another odd thing is that the seat backs(vinyl parts) and the turn signal stock(and others) are olive green.....unlike any 62 I have seen as it's just not faded brown but olive green. The interior is in perfect shape as well with the driver seat being recently recovered. Damn it really was a nice Cruiser regardless of the miles, I have a files 2" thick full of recipts.

Reddog 01-06-2003, 08:37 AM That's a nice rig,
It's a shame that there is low life, scum sucking, ass licking, inverted pricks who commit such crimes.
I wish that they could be delivered the proper punishment, like maybe torture and a slow hanging.... with piano wire
I hope your local police catch the fucker and I hope you get your rig back.

I was thinking along the lines of being drawn and quartered by 4 Cruisers:D and leaving their bloody stumps to be feed on by the crabs!

Landpimp 01-09-2003, 07:09 PM We just recovered out 88 fj62 :))) It was found in Tacoma WA(10 miles from where it was stolen. Beside the stereo, speakers and personal belonging it’s just the way it was….in great shape! It appears to have been sitting for a few days as the brake rotors were starting to rust, it was locked even. The police printed it and some stuff that the thieves left that wasn’t ours, we have it home now!
Now to who found it and it’s almost too unbelievable even to me. It was found by Al Mathisen of Titus Will Toyota, Al is my very good friend and Toyota parts guy(he was the 2nd person I called after it was stolen) Al just happened to be taking his 3-legged dog to the vet and spotted it the 62 in s strip mall. He called me at 4pm today on a crappy pay phone and I could not understand what he was saying but I finally realized he said “I FOUND YOUR CRUISER” I told him to stay put and I and my buddy were on our way(and armed) called the cops and they met us there. The door locks were not busted, the ignition was not busted, we did find a homemade tool that they might have used to get in it, but they must have had a key to start the Cruiser…..who knows?
So let me tell you it PAYS to buy all your Toyota parts from the same guy!!!!!!! And I do believe in the Cruiser Gods…..one of which works for Toyota!!
I would also like to give a very heart felt THANKS to everyone who helped look for it, posted it on the net, hosted pics and wished me the best of luck finding it…….I really think you all are SUPER folks to have done so and all the good karma paid off
Thanks
John Holmaas
468LC 01-09-2003, 07:42 PM That's great news John. I'm glad you got it back and it's not destroyed.
LOL I have a few connections at Titus and do buy most of my cars there. Glad that Al was able to help you out.
BJ On Roids 01-09-2003, 08:00 PM good to hear it is back!!

Does that mean I can tell Betsy that she can stop looking?
I just got her fully trained yesterday.

There's something about a 3-legged dog that just makes me laugh.

Bill? Stucki? I'll be diped in shit!
No Al's 3 legged dog is named Woody ;) he just recently had kidney problems then lost his leg, then went blind then got his sight back. When all this was going on Woody, Al would call me everyday to talk about it(as I'm a dog lover) I don't pray for people very often but I do pray for animals when they are sick.....I prayed for Woody to make it thru all this and he did.......then found my Cruiser for me :)
The whole thing is kinda wierd as at somepoint the thiefs cleaned the wheels with Armoral and left the bottle in the Cruiser along with the owner manual and a few signs for Connie's work........like they aprecaited the Cruiser and thought we should have it back in good shape.......just too damn wierd!
It apears that it has been parked sense saturday at sometime.

Deep South Cruisers 01-10-2003, 06:47 AM huh? that is weird.
steal a car, clean it up &then park it at the mall to be discovered by all:confused:
sounds like somebody got cold feet.
When my stolen car was recovered the vent window was busted and taped over with a box, the steering column looked like it had exploded, the front rotors had daylight showing through them and a rap tape was still in the cassette deck with the treble all the way down and the Bass all the way up:D

That’s what I was thinking on your rig! They started to hear how we treat horse (cruiser = horse) thieves, if caught by a cruiser owner! Sloooooow and painful!
John great deal on your rig, glad it is back in your stable. Most likely a good thing the thieves did not come back why you where there!!!!
A few verses from John’s new gangta rap CD:
Rolling in my 62 - By John Holms aka: Da'Pimp
“Don’t even try to understand”
“just don’t provoke”
“Or you might not be stay’in around”
“John twas paken da gat”
“check’in for his 62”
“ Pop-pop”
“Cruiser thieves lay’in on the’ back”
“Two more tears for holms”
“Price to high?”
“too soon to tell, but he’s roll’in is his 62”
-Chorus-
  :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Kaiser Bill 01-10-2003, 10:39 PM DAMN!!
H-Diddy-Cat Is that really you?
And to think I didn't know until now, that I bought a clutch slave from the Crooza Gangsta 'O' rap himself:flipoff2:
Nice work :D
Do you think you could get your Leykis
sharpie out and autograph that slave for me before you ship it?
Hey John, I think that dog should have been named Lucky
