: TH350 question

I've been fighting with a leaking tranny/case for a year or so. In that time I've replaced the TC seal, front pump seal, pan gasket, dipstick tube/gasket, etc. Now it's leaking bad (about 3qts a week when sitting) from the case adapter and the case is overfilling from the tranny swapping fluid to it. I got what I assume is the correct set ( I hope) of seals for the tranny output and tcase input seals. Today I pulled the case, and it's leaking a lot from the tailshaft area where the governor gear goes.

Is that supposed to be a dry area? Should there be any fluid at all in the adapter areas between tranny and case? I assume it is a dry area, but just want to make sure I'm on the right path. My chilton barely acknowledges that there is a transfer case, so it's not much help with the 4x4 stuff. The tranny is a TH350, and the case is a 208.

Thanks

OK, I replaced the seal on the Tcase input shaft easy enough, but before I put it back together, I'd really like to know if there is a seal somewhere here, or do you have to do it from inside the tranny. I see a vent to the pan (red arrow), so it seems to me if you park at a sharp nose-up angle, this whole area IS going to flood with fluid. Is this right?

There is no seal in that area.
I had my th350 apart last week.

Triaged:flipoff2: He meant gasket I'm sure.
Now to the tranny leaking....If you do park on a incline alot it will leak back into that area and cause the gasket to leak, and cause the tcase seal to go bad leaking fluid into the tcase.

There should be a square cut o-ring about 4-5'' in diameter that fits up against the case in the small recess, does that make sense?

KWTMECH is right, there should be a square cut O-ring in the area that I've highlited yellow that seals the case to the adapter.
There should also be a gasket between the adapter and T-case too.

Yeah, I cleaned and resealed it, and it seems to have stopped that leak, but it looks like the convertor seals is leaking again. I've replaced it once, already, so I'm doing the TC this time also. Damn! Knock one down and another starts up!

When you replace the TC seal be sure to put some grease on the TC stub and be careful putting it back in, I've seen them get ripped on the ears of the TC.
If you didn't grease the TC the first time you replaced the seal odds are that's why it's leaking again.

That front pump can also (ans more commonly) leak from a warped pump housing:( but only a shop could tel you that for sure
