: Opinions on wiring for engine swap?

I've got my Pathfinder to the point where the old engine's getting pulled tomorrow morning, and while removing the old wiring, I started to wonder about some stuff.

I'm pulling the ENTIRE wiring harness out of the Pathy. Headlights to taillights and everything in between is coming out.

Instead of doing this, should I keep some of the wires and wire up the headlights and stuff like this? Or just pull the entire harness and use new wires and switches to wire up the lights and stuff? I have a Howell harness (from JayK) for the engine, so that's taken care of.

I'm halfway tempted to build a completely new dash out of aluminum and stuff so I can put a bunch of switches on there, and make it easy to put everything back together. Anyone have any opinions? The engine is a 4.3 TBI w/TH350 and NP203 with future aspirations of a NP205 bolted to it.

You should sell the whole jaloppy and buy a new Titan 4x4 with the v8 and d44's front and rear and the electric locker and all that jazz. :flipoff2:

Get the electrical schematics for BOTH vehicles first. Itīll go a lot easier.

In the case of the engine swap in my Zuk, I cut and spliced the lighting wires into the new harness, as the connectors were all different. Also, I didnīt pull any of the harness that goes to the rear, just cutting at one spot in the tranny tunnel, then getting a 20 pole connector to put it back together.

As far as the dash, go for it.....;)

A couple of things that MIGHT affect this:

I'm pulling out all the A/C/heating/vents and stuff. So really, I have to pull the dash anyway. I just am getting the feeling that it would be faster to pull EVERYTHING. The wiring harness for the engine is JUST the engine if I'm not mistaken. No lights or anything. Also, the Nissan ECU holds EVERYTHING. Lights, the power mirror switches (it was a high end Pathfinder.. hehe) and basically every electrical part.
