: Is that an International?
Deep South Cruisers 01-06-2003, 05:47 AM Went hunting in my FJ40 Saturday morning and got good and muddy on the trails so I stopped at the quarter wash on my way home.
The next bay over had a black J**p on 31's and the guy walks over and is admiring my rig and says "Is that an International???"
fj40guy 01-06-2003, 06:23 AM :p
It's funny when ALL FOUR of my kids will reply "No, It's a LAND CRUISER"...
Finally put up an Avitar.... spooky enough? :D

Deep South Cruisers 01-06-2003, 06:49 AM yes, scary avatar:eek:
I'm just going to start saying "YES IT IS" :flipoff2:
Deep South Cruisers 01-06-2003, 07:09 AM I think I'll leave the emblems off and start telling people its a International:flipoff2:
Reddog 01-06-2003, 08:56 AM I've got a buddy with a Chevy bow tie on the grill of his 40.
We were at a gas station once and some guy was looking at his rig and told him he didn't know that Chevrolet ever made a Jeep !
The guy was serious !
That event left me very disturbed.........
kling-on 01-06-2003, 09:08 AM my buddy got out of a ticket for that the cop wrote chevy on the ticket because of the bow tie he went to court with his reg and title and said " but i own a toyota landcruiser  " the judge throw it out ... it wuz too sweeeet for words :D

:D NO, after he finished telling me how well his J**p performed offroad I cut the conversation short, I guess I could have offered him a Type "R" sticker or something. On a similar note, I exchanged waves from a nice Jeep on 35's the same day........Surely he knew the difference:rolleyes:
helocat 01-06-2003, 01:14 PM Just this morning after pulling in to the coffee joint, I had a guy say “nice jeep”, before I could say anything a guy walking from a great looking restored early Bronco, goes “That’s not some crappy J**p, that’s a Landcruiser”. The Bronco guy got a free latté, the other guy just looked stupid. It’s a good Monday.
Deep South Cruisers 01-06-2003, 01:43 PM I've had the same J**p comments about my FJ60:eek: I mean come awwwwwwwn, I don't even bother correcting people about the 40 anymore but a 60 is unexcusable:rolleyes:
I spotted a green 40 at lunch and pulled in to check it out, I was tempted to wait for the owner so I could chat with him but didn't hang around long enough. There aren't many 40's round these parts.

Your ugly mug would be scarier:flipoff2: :flipoff2:
It would frighten women, children and small dogs.

BJ On Roids 01-06-2003, 02:24 PM in a place where you dont see many jeeps (lots of new TJs) we still get far too much nice jeep comments :flipoff2:
and i get wayy too many stoners, going, despite all ypou have done to it, mine would go just as well, and i luagh and think they have not seen where i drive :D
good looking international though deep south ;)
Deep South Cruisers 01-06-2003, 02:56 PM Why, thank you:laughing:
I could see the J**p guy peering over at my cruiser and I knew I was going to HAVE to talk to him.
I guess I could have said, yea, thats a nice Kia you got there, Are those All Terrains rough on the highway:confused: and how do you get all that chrome clean;)
Reddog 01-06-2003, 03:03 PM Well I'm in trouble now
My boss caught me on the computer reading this post ( I'm supposed to be working  )
Anyway he's got a pretty bad ass Jeep, a 56 CJ5, built to the max.
So now I'm about to lose my job cause of all the Jeep bashing going on here. :D Just kidding.
Seriously though, I have never been offended by anyone referring to my Cruiser as a Jeep, because it's a generic term. The fact that they are offering a compliment is appreciated....They can't help the fact that they are ignorant and don't know the difference.
My usual response is thanks, but it's not a Jeep, it's a Toyota LandCruiser. It's better to enlighten them than to offend them by pointing out their ignorance. :)
75HerseyCruiser 01-06-2003, 03:37 PM I had a guy ask me if my FJ40 was a "95", as in 1995 - he went on to say: "I thought they stopped making these years ago?"
Maybe I need to skuff up the paint and let the mud dry and crack on the fenders.

no offense intended & I didn't disrespect the guy I just moved along. I just thought it was funny that the guy wanted to talk trucks but obviously had no knowledge.
I still have to correct the wife, and you are right its a generic term that people use because they haven't been educated otherwise. Maybe it would be easier to start telling them YES but its a Foreign Jeep (FJ) ;) then maybe it would stick.
LC Hamma 01-07-2003, 10:45 AM I, too, am fed up with the ignorance of some folks, so here's a scenario of how I handle "nice jxxp" comments:
Bonehead: "Nice Jxxp 'ya got there buddy"
(this guy happens to be driving a Chevy pickup)
Me: "Hey, you're drivin' on of those cool lookin' Fords"
Bonehead #2: "What years' that Jxxp your're drivin'?"
(this dude has a classic Mustang)
Me: "Close to the same year as your Camaro"
 That REALLY gets 'em going
