I desperately need ball joints for my '75. Does anyone know where I can find them and what the price is?

uuuummmm......ball joints don't exist on a Cruiser. Never have....

Are you perhaps needing the knuckle bearings, for your steering?? Or perhaps a birfield?? There are LOTS of parts up there, cruiser specific....spend a minute-three on the Spectre site (http://www.sor.com) and part numbers will do you wonders...

BTW: welcome newbie :flipoff2:

Thanks for the warm welcome. Here's the problem. The wheels/tires are kicking in at the top. Birfield joint? What pieces are phukt and what do I need to replace?

Creech-

ball joints=tie rods ends (as per personal communication).

knuckle bearings sound like your problem. If you grab the top of the tire and rock in out you get slop right? If you grab sides of tire and get slop (turn to turn rocking), then you may need 'ball joints' ala tie rod ends.

what be yer problem?

I'd say all of the above are my problems. I'll look into it tonight and see exactly what I need. Thanks y'all.

Sounds like you need to rebuild the axle. Usually, if it's gone that far, the rest is trashed. Not that hard. Get a Haynes Manual.

Oh yeah.....

:flipoff2: :) :flipoff2: Welcome Newbie

my 63 fj45 has a ball joint axle. that's the style for the 58-67 cruisers.

I'm pretty sure it's my knuckle bearings. I got the manual out last night and started looking through it. From what my feeble mind can figure, it's got to be the knuckle bearings.

first, if your wheels are kicking out at the top, this could be the steering knuckle bearing or the wheel bearings or a combo of both. get you manual out and adjust both properly before you start buying parts unless you have all that extra $$$$ lying around. i will try to post info on both.

in my haynes, chapt 9 p157 has the knuckle bearing arm adjustment. section 4 of chapt9 has the wheel bearing adjustment. i had a little lean in on my '75 and I just reshimmed the knuckle bearings and it worked great!

If your wheels are really angled in at the top, then you may have managed to bend your axle housing. This is not easy to do, but if you air dropped it from a C130 or something like that you may have managed to do it. I doubt that the knuckle bearings could be worn enough to make it seem like the wheels are angled in. An alighment shop of a frame shop would be able to tell you if you have bent the housing.
