I have an 87 YJ with an electrical problem. I added a set of front lights about a year ago and wired them into the same circuit as the foglights.This worked fine for almost a year but then the fuse got hot. now the fuse has blown and when I replace it there is no juice in that circuit at all! that means no dash and taillights. I can work on lots of things but electrical problems frustrate me. any suggestion how to fix this? anyone in the north bay area able to help? I can't drive at night now without getting pulled over. HELP

Like cutter said check all your fuses and in the future when installing lights you need to run them through a relay. Off road lights pull a lot of amps. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I checked all the fuses and put in new ones. still no dash or tail or fog lights. is there a backup fuse or fuseable link? Or will I have to shell out $$$ to an auto electric specialist?

well, i'm not real sure 'bout the YJ's, but under my hood (TJ) ya got a bunch of fuses and relays. If you don't have a factory service manual (not the 'haynes' crap)to tell you what they go for, start pulling and checking. you'll need a volt meter for the relays (or use one you know is good and replace one and see...)Hope this helps, BTW, if you don't have a fac. manual, get one! They save a load of time on the reassembly, it's always easy to get my Jeep apart, but putting it back together....I got mine off eBay for $30 plus shipping, of course, chrysler wanted $99 for the same book.
