Ok I'll take your word for that. I have always seen the overloads attached to the regular spring pack, not spaced up like that. Looks dang funky, even if it is supposed to be that way.

check out newer style Dodge's ('94-'01)w/ the heavy towing package they aren't spaced that high, but it does have two large tabs on the frame that those extra leafs hit when loaded

Both of my Dads Ford Superduty's are done that way from the factory. There's quite a few truck's done that way. Running overloads like this helps them ride smoother while they are empty(not loaded). Most heavy duty truck's don't ride that great, even empty, but this does help a little. I've got all the springs and braket's from a Ford Superduty overload set up like this. Someday I'm gonna put them on my Dodge 1500 so I can use the truck a little better to work out of. Right now if I put a ton of sand in the bed it falls to the ground. I lay brick's for a living and need to haul sand sometimes. I don't wan't to haul much more than that, but I want to feel safe while I'm doing it. The truck brakes good and pleanty of power but the front end get's a little light. This set up should fix me up pretty good.
