This is the second time that my hoses to the rear tank keep getting blown out. I thought that I had them far enough away from the headers, but just the heat in the area ruins the hose. I thought about running some copper tubing in its place under the battery tray to the frame. I could use commpresion fittings to attach the tubes to the hose for a leak free connection. With the fender well headers there is not a lot of other places to run the hoses out of the way. Any other ideas? <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">

Have you thought about a heat resistant covering of some sort? Or maybe a heat shield? Or maybe you could try running the lines differently to avoid the heat? Just a few suggestions.

I have even thought about braided line. Like every one says "trying to be cheap"

Not sure what length you're gonna need, but I was looking at gas line, that was all metal, that you use to hook up a stove.
That might work, not sure of the fittings needed.

Also there's a type of goodyear line that can take that type of heat.

Pretty sure power steering line would work too.

Also yo usay you have "hoses" going to the tank???
You should really only need one.
How do you have stuff hooked up.

Try running them as far from heat sources as possible.
Also some sort of heat sheild might work.

How about trying some high-pressure, high-temp hydraulic hose. NAPA will make the to the length you need and I don't think it is that expensive (~$4.00/ft I think)

I think it's really a picture of Ted Kennedy after a night at the pub.

I ran 3/8 copper line from the engine bay all the way to the rear tank. I utilized compression fittings on the line and it works like a charm. The line is held onto the frame by wire clamps http://www.insayn.rockcrawler.com/images/combo_pic.jpg

Had the same problem with my hose. Changed to teflon, no more problems. It'a kinda pricey $2-3/foot.

I have one line out of the manifold going to the rear tank, And one line goes to the front. They come out of the manifold on oppiste ends. I think I will try some hard line in the area, with a heat sheild. It would be cheaper. Thanks for the info.
