Anyone know of any easy to moderate trails in the San Jose area. I know of a few down in the SC mountains but they are over my head. I've heard of a trail that skirts the bay. Anyone have any info on this?

How about Los Gatos? There is St. Joshephs (sp?) trail right by town. It's fairly easy.

How do I get there and what do you mean by "fairly" easy.
How much elevation change?

What kind of shape are you in? Have you been riding at all or are you a fat bastard?

I took a friend of mine who rides once in a great while and it was kinda hard for him, but he did make it to the top. It's a good climb but do-able for those who don't ride that much.

It's in Los Gatos. Take 17 towards Santa Cruz. Get off on HYW 9 towards the right. Make a Left at your first light (Univercity). Drive until it deadends and make a left. You'll be going over 17 again as you make the Left. Park anywhere on or after the bridge and you'll see the trailhead.

Get IT:flipoff2:

You should try Quicksilver Park in South San Jose. I grew up riding those trails then they closed them to bikes but now they are ok from the New Almaden entrance. Good trails w/ all kinds of skill levels

One that skirts the bay is probably Shoreline. It's near the amphitheatre in mountain view, just go all the way down shoreline blvd.

Easy riding? Stevens Creek (Fremont Older) is a good place to start. Where I first started out riding, but it sucks ass now. Rangers all over the place, parking costs money, and way way way too crowded.
