Hey I'm getting ready to paint my chassis and I do not want to powder coat it, because of welding and not that easy to do touch up work so my ? is what type of primer & paint should I use that will work pretty good an that will take a beating .:bounce:

Any good quality etch primer will work fine, just make sure you clean it up real well with some Xylene before spraying.

For paint, I've had good experience with Eastwood Chassis Black, it's pretty good quality stuff.

On the other hand, I did my offroad trailer with Rustoleum Gloss Black over Rustoleum Etching Primer about 7 years ago and it's held out pretty well, including several East Coast winters.

I like cheap tractor paint with some hardner added. No matter what you use, it's gonna get trashed or welded on.

No doubt.
I used POR-15 and their chassis coat black.
It's holding up really well, xept for some rock rash.

I use Zero Rust. Minimal prep work, unlike POR-15. You can get it in black, so you don't need to top coat with chassis paint. You can apply it over rust, just remove loose scale, and it seals and inhibits rust. If you do weld, just grind of the Zero Rust, weld, clean the area, and reapply.
I used it on an old cruiser frame, after 5 years, no rust.....:skull:

You can touch up powder coating just like wet paint.
Sand it smooth, prime and paint. Easy.
We used to get touch-up mixed to powder colors and put iin spray cans.
