i found a d60 out of a '81 dodge truck. it is really cheap, but needs new pinon gear shaft. it is a little wide for my jeep so it would have to be cut down. is this a worth the $150 shipped? how hard would this be to set it up to run in my '98 tj? what would i need to do? i just don't know much about axles.

If it has axle disconnect, it is less desirable, but probably better than what you have...

It is $300 for the weld on brackets and $90 for 9" style ends to weld back onto the housing and Junckyard brakes. New axles are $300, ring and pinion is $160, instal kit is $100 and a locker so you can run it 35 spline. That will cover most of it. I went for the 9" ends (semi float)so that you can keep your wheels 5X4.5 If that is what you would like to do.

oh yeah the older dodges have passenger side diffs so its not gonna work with your t case unless you get the whole thing retubed

Are you talking about a front or a rear D60?????

it is a rear d60. the pumpkin is in the center. it is too wide so i would have to cut it down. i think i would be putting too much money into this to get it to work with brackets, brakes, gears, and all the work. what do you guys think?

Why on earth would you cut down a perfectly good D60? Just find a D44 or D60 front to go along with it and run them full width.
