I only know this second hand - but - supposedly these are pretty strong. A buddy of mine is looking into replacing his D60/Corp. 14 bolt set up with these and moving up from 38s to maybe 44s. Plus since some serious gear reduction takes place in the portals, there's less chance of breaking everything from there in (like driveshafts, axle shafts, and R&P).

Believe me when I tell you that a friend of mine and I have looked into getting a set of those for a loooooong time. Yes they are Volvo...And yes they are about as rare as chicken's teeth. We did find ONE set for about $2kt...But they had to be shipped from Sweden. Most of these are coming out of the Valp (sp?)...And the Swedish army stopped producing them years ago, hence why they are so rare (at least to us). I'm sure there are a bunch of snow covered garages in in Sweden with piles of them somewhere, but not too many of them are known of by us folks on this side of the pond.

Maybe these guy's have found a plentiful source for them, but the reason I didn't get a set still stands. Parts. What if you grenade a portal gear? What if the pneumatic locker goes south? I'll tell ya', just getting specialty parts for a LR D90 is tough enough...I'd hate to have to wait out a full a season just chasing/waiting on a Valp portal housing, ring gear or hub...Just IMO.

ok the site is http://www.xtremeaxle.com

and the price is $7900.00 us for a pair but it comes with the 8 X 8 3/4 bolt pattern 16 by 7.5 rims

so what do you think. A set of high pinion 60's will run about the same... but these have more clearance and the coolness factor goes way up :smokin:
